I am seriously disappointed in this brewery and the service. They are unapologetically rude from the beginning of our visit all the way until the end. Not sure why we were given such terrible service- if you don't want to work on a Sunday, don't!
Our group came here for a quick drink and settled by some tables on the side of the building. We were picking our spots and were rushed to order because "we can't sit without ordering" even though we were fully prepared to order, just wanted to pick a seat first... then she made everyone come up one by one, like an elementary school line to come order...then said really condescending things like there were so many of us, but not everyone ordered beer... (because a few of us didn't want a beer..) So strange! Then when we sat, the main person in our group had to go over to the drake to grab some takeout and they ran after her demanding her to pay up first for all the beers..despite the 7 of us still sitting at the table..did she really think we were going to dine and dash?
Then we started chatting and they shut the side door on our faces.
Overall the experience was very unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome even though we were paying customers. I never had this experience at another brewery- usually it's supposed to be good vibes.
+1 star because the beer was pretty...
Read morea lovely (if a little hard to find) spot in the city. especially now, with the lifted Covid restrictions it is just wonderful to chill there. I found the staff really attentive, fast and friendly. and it is a very dog friendly place indeed - it is very likely that your pooch will get a drink (a bowl of water) before you get your pint (or even order it). there are some non alcoholic beverages for those who come with non-drinking friends. for food options: chips and nuts, so it might be a good idea to get stuffed before coming here. As I mentioned it is a bit tricky to find the brewery: you can use MOCA as a beacon as it is literally next door. a good access from the railway cycling path. not so great from TTC: about 10 mins from 505/506 stop at Dundas and Sterling, or from the Landsdowne station. There is a bottle shop, but you (obviously) can't drink the take out beer on the patio or inside. there is a selection of draft beer "for here." I saw two pinball machines and some board games for customers to use. Great and very original decor, music - definitely not "easy listening" kind but not too extreme. Overall this is an...
Read moreHenderson Brewery is at that stage where it's almost still a secret. It's tucked away in a warehouse like setting, pretty much right next to the railway line that runs through this part of the city. Also a big plus is that it happens to be located right next to the West Toronto Railpath, which means you can bicycle down for a pint of you're in the area.
Since they're still in their start-up phase I'll reserve a full review to a later date but for now I can say that the couple of beers that they do have brewed currently are delicious. Of special mention is their Radler which is my favorite of all the local Radlers that I've tasted.
There isn't much available in terms of food so if you're looking for lunch or dinner this is not the place. I'm hoping this changes at some point.
The atmosphere is open-warehouse and stool based, with Retro Deco and and a pinball machine. Overall a great place to walk to on a summer afternoon.
I'm reviewing this as a 3 for the great beers and decent atmosphere and will update once they get the operation fully...
