Himalayan Kitchen scales the summit, and takes momos to the heights. Located in Toronto's Little Tibet, this is the premier purveyor of momos in Parkdale. Coming off of Lansdowne on to Queen West, Himalayan Kitchen appeared like a tea house in the mountains, offering refreshment and respite for a weary traveller. As an aspiring connoisseur of the fine art of the dumpling, I had to try both the Butter Chicken momos and the Jhol momos (I was very hungry). I selected the Butter Chicken momos with... chicken as a filling (made sense 🙂), and chose beef as the filling for the Jhol momos. These took about 15 minutes to prepare, and arrived beautifully simmered in their respective sauces. The Butter Chicken sauce was rich, robust and made its presence felt, in a very pleasing way. The Jhol sauce, by contrast, was thin, delicate and tactful - very different, but pleasing in its own right. The meat in both cases was cooked wonderfully, and the momo wrapping was thick enough without being overdone. The decor showed strong accents of orange, one of the most pleasing of colours: warm and inviting. The background soundtrack was groovy, chill Desi music, and the staff introduced me to the song "Naina" from the Bollywood film "Crew" (sung by Diljit Dosanjh and Badshah) - Love it, it's currently number 2 on my Desi playlist. Also really cool were the shirts worn by the wait staff, with the slogan on the back: "I Followed My Heart & It Led Me To Momo". Yes it did, indeed. The best compliment that could be given to Himalayan Kitchen, was that of an empty bowl, with every last morsel and sauce devoured to the end (photo included as proof). This is the place to come to in Parkdale. Make the ascent to Himalayan Kitchen.

I recently dined at this restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. The moment I stepped in, the warm and welcoming ambiance, adorned with traditional Tibetan and Nepali décor, set the perfect mood for the meal ahead. The highlight was the variety of momos—each perfectly crafted with thin wrappers and flavorful fillings like chicken, pork, and vegetables. The juicy, savory bites were complemented by spicy dipping sauces that added an extra layer of flavor. As a momo lover, I was thoroughly impressed! Next, I tried their chowmein, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were stir-fried to perfection, with just the right amount of bite, mixed with fresh vegetables and tender chicken. The balance of seasonings made each bite more delicious than the last. The dish was generously portioned and packed with flavors that made it a standout on the menu. The pork chilli was another highlight. The tender pieces of pork were marinated and cooked with a crispy exterior, while the stir-fry of onions, peppers, and garlic in a tangy, spicy sauce added a bold, fiery punch to the dish. It was a perfect blend of heat and flavor that left me craving more. The service was exceptional as well, with attentive staff who provided great recommendations and ensured that the dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. For the quality and variety of food, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, making the visit all the more satisfying. Overall, this restaurant offers an authentic, flavorful, and reasonably priced culinary journey into Tibetan and Nepali cuisine that’s well worth a visit!

Great portion sizes. Ordered the Samosa Chaat, which was a sauce/deconstructed samosa (still very good), and an order of steamed chicken, and steamed beef momos. Both were delicious, but the chicken had more of the same flavour pallet as the Samosa Chaat, while the beef had that very classic Tibetan beef seasonings/flavours. I split all 3 items with another person, and we had some leftovers as we both eat smaller portions due to medications. So if you're hungry and have a regular appetite, have no fear! You will absolutely leave full and happy! I actually went here the day of my Grandfather's funeral, and while it was a really sad day, I was glad to be able to end it out with such delicious food. I will absolutely be back to try some of the other menu options that were unavailable when I went (things do sell out). As a heads-up, the menus are virtual, and there are QR codes on the tables, but you can just as easily google the menu or press the menu link on google for the same thing. The other thing I will say is you might have to actually flag down or approach the register if you need something as things get pretty busy. It's not an issue for me, but if you're introverted, you might want the heads up that you need to be brave, haha. Also the seating options are not super plentiful, so depending on when you go, there might be a bit of a wait. The off peak hours suggestion on Google are spot on! Great place, and I'd give it a try if you're in the area and want a satisfying and filling meal.

as a first-timer experiencing Indian cuisine, I must say it was an absolute delight! The combination of delectable flavors, fair prices, and exceptional service left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted warmly by the friendly staff, creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance was tastefully decorated with vibrant colors and Indian-inspired motifs, setting the stage for an authentic dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! Every dish I tried was a flavor-packed revelation that had me eagerly reaching for more. The menu offered a wide variety of options, but I couldn't resist indulging in their famous "Veggie Masala" and "Chilli Potatoes." The perfectly balanced blend of spices in the dishes showcased the true essence of Indian cuisine, leaving my taste buds dancing with joy. One dish that truly stood out was the "Tofu Tikka." The tofu was incredibly tender and marinated in a mouthwatering mix of aromatic spices, making each bite an explosion of flavors. It was a delightful surprise for someone like me, who isn't typically a fan of tofu. I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you're not a tofu enthusiast. The delightful blend of flavors, affordable prices, and attentive service left me craving more. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or a curious newcomer like myself

I had a terrible experience at Himalayan Kitchen (Momo2Go). As a pure vegetarian and follower of the Jain religion, I ordered veg momos but was served non-veg momos instead. This mistake was extremely upsetting and completely unacceptable given my dietary and religious restrictions. When I pointed out the error, the staff refused to acknowledge their mistake. Instead, they crushed our original bill to cover it up and blamed the issue on a new, untrained employee. They went as far as accusing us of lying because we "couldn't afford the food," which is both false and insulting. We paid the full bill and did not ask for any compensation, just an acknowledgment of their mistake and an apology. The handling of the situation was extremely unprofessional. Initially, they claimed there was no manager available, and later, they said the manager was busy cooking. This inconsistency only added to our frustration. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, one of the staff members dismissively said "hush," which was incredibly disrespectful. I have a video of the staff crushing the bill as proof of their attempt to cover up their mistake. This place is unreliable, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially those with specific dietary requirements.

ADD: My friends and I allll got sick when we got home from the food. Worst $80 spent!!!! We were drawn to go in because of the volume of reviews but sad to discover that it was so so disappointing. Every single dish was coated and drenched in layers of sauce! Quantity overpowers quality. We ordered the chicken lollipop, chow mien (beef) malai momos, honey chilli cauliflower and the chicken thali. The chicken lollipop: (we asked for this to be removed off the bill) - had a funky smell and taste. Very off-putting- I had to get a new fork and plate. - when we tried to explain this, the person waiting us mansplained that it was the tendon so it’s meant to taste odd. Tried to explain this is how they cook it. - lots of pushback to have it removed off bill but the person serving us was respectful but I had to be firm that I’m not paying for it (as we all already felt off) We left most of the dishes half eaten. Which is horrible to waste food but the food was not good and did not sit well with either of us. None of us packed the left overs. Also on the way to the bathroom, my friend stepped on a roach. Overall experience was awful and disappointing.
