The Wyck Recommendation: Molkagetz Rating: 4.2/5 Margaritas, Muscle Memory, and a Jungle I Didn’t Know Existed Intro Scene We only meant to have one. That was the lie we told ourselves. But the moment those cerulean-rimmed goblets hit the table, full of mango tequila and rimmed with fire, we knew—we were staying. Somewhere between the guava and the lime, we forgot the plan and remembered joy. I think that counts for something. What Was Ordered $10 margaritas (Guava, Mango, Lime) One absurdly massive goblet version that looked like it was designed for Poseidon Chili-lime rims that slapped harder than they had any right to The drinks had real heat—sweet upfront, with a back-end that made you pause, consider your choices, and then keep drinking anyway. Service Commentary Didn’t catch names, but they moved with that “I’m busy but not annoyed” grace. Friendly, fast, and didn’t blink when we ordered another round instead of food. A place that lets you vibe without pressure? That’s rare in this economy. Vibe Check Casual but with a pulse. Think: first Tinder date meets fifth tequila. Mixed crowd, unpretentious energy, and not a single dude in cargo shorts trying to order nachos like it’s 2012. You could bring a friend or a situationship and not regret either. The Space Itself That patio is the kind of surprise you don’t see coming. Bamboo fencing, hanging vines, and neon signs that whisper “you’re on vacation, pretend your ex never happened.” It’s cozy but not cramped, and the fake jungle thing somehow works. Even the wooden tables looked like they’ve seen things. About the Neighborhood Right on Queen West near Lansdowne—aka Parkdale’s chaotic, charming core. Street parking if you pray hard enough. TTC close by if you drink like we did. Bonus: It’s not swarmed by influencers... yet. Hits & Misses ✓ $10 margaritas that actually taste like booze ✓ That damn patio—gorgeous and hidden ✓ Staff that respects your decisions (good and bad) ✗ Didn’t try the food (yet), so the jury’s still out ✗ Margarita goblets could cause long-term poor decisions Final Verdict We came for cheap drinks and accidentally found a secret patio oasis with drinks that punch way above their price point. If the food holds up, this might be a Parkdale sleeper hit. Either way, go while it’s still semi-undiscovered and your liver still believes in you. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Molkgatez and I must say it was an extraordinary experience that left me craving more. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality that set the tone for the entire evening. The staff Eric, Sophia Ricardo etc were friendly, attentive and went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. It was evident that they genuinely cared about our satisfaction, making us feel like valued guests throughout the evening. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! Each dish was a masterpiece, a true celebration of Mexican flavors and culinary artistry. The menu boasted a wide array of traditional dishes, and every bite was a revelation. The tacos were a symphony of flavors, with tender, juicy meat and vibrant, homemade salsas that danced on my taste buds. And don't even get me started on the molcajete cielo, mar y tierra was a revelation of flavors, perfectly balanced and bursting with authenticity. The presentation of each dish was a feast for the eyes, beautifully plated with attention to detail. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the flavors were nothing short of exceptional. It was clear that the chefs at Molkagtez have a deep understanding and respect for Mexican cuisine, and their passion shines through in every dish. The ambiance of Molkagtez was equally delightful. The vibrant decor, warm lighting, and carefully chosen music created an atmosphere that transported me straight to Mexico. It was the perfect blend of cozy and lively, making it an ideal setting for a memorable dining experience. Molkagtez is a true gem that combines outstanding customer service, exceptional food, and an inviting atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Mexico. Whether you're a seasoned lover of Mexican cuisine or new to its flavors, Molkagtez will leave you with a culinary experience that will linger in your memory. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in their mouthwatering dishes and immerse yourself in their warm hospitality. You won't be disappointed!

I would love to start off by saying that this is a place I would strongly recommend for family gatherings, couples, anyone who is genuinely wanting an authentic Mexican cuisine and experience. Me and five of my family members found this place through TikTok, making us want to give this place a go to see the authenticity and ambiance of this place. We were all kindly greeted by the staff, got a table big enough to fit us all, and were quickly served with menus. After looking at the vast, mouth-glazing options this restaurant offered, I finally made a decision to go for the mixed meat Fajitas entree. I ordered a few appetizers being the nachos & their home-made guacamole as well just to give them a try. Our food ended up taking some time to get to us however, we were kindly introduced by the owner of the restaurant himself who would ensure we were having a fantastic experience while apologizing for the delay, which I wouldn’t blame anyone for considering it was so busy when we were there. Shortly after, our food came in and I have to say, everything I had ordered was just phenomenal, spot on. You could just tell the freshness, the taste, the spices used, it was truly authentic. After finishing our food, the owner came in with a fun little game where we would all hold hands together and two people at the ends of the table would hold onto little zappers. If we lasted the full zap, we would get a free shot. Most of us don’t drink but the thought of including this fun game to our dinner was phenomenal. The owner truly seems to have a lot of respect for his customers by always coming in to ensure we had our water glasses full, making sure we had all that we wanted and weren’t missing anything, bringing in a high, positive spirit that would genuinely make you feel like you’re at home. I am so happy I decided to come here with my family, as I walked in wondering if it would be any good, walked out knowing this IS the spot for authentic Mexican cuisine with exceptional care & service.

They responded to my boyfriend's review with more lies. My review actually is marked takeout right at the top and they said that I did not mention it was take away. Again, I have full recording of the entirety of the conversation with the OWNER when he even said that the person who wrote the response to our review is unwell and that the CHEF ON THE DAY THAT WE CAME IN WAS FIRED THAT DAY!! ALL THINGS I DID NOT MENTION BECAUSE MY REVIEW WAS NOT MADE WITH ANY ILL INTENT.

Update DEC 10 - I came to check if the response given to us that lied about us in our review, saying that we did not mention the birria (which if we had mentioned the birria would have been a much worse review as the Birria came without the noodles at all and we simply forgot to add that in our review.) had been removed as promised by the owner when he asked us to please remove our bad review. I planned to amend my review to add that we were given a refund, not remove it, which I told the owner then. ( I HAVE AUDIO RECORDING OF THE ENTIRE CONVERSATION INCLUDING THE OWNER ASKING ME TO TAKE DOWN MY BAD REVIEW). Instead of removing their response to us, they have now added that they are apparently sick to their stomach that my boyfriend added an honest review an hour before we ever arrived at the restaurant. On that note I will leave the entirety of this review available for anyone to see how these people treat their customers.

Yes we were refunded 100 percent of our order upon returning to he restaurant a week later - and in our conversation we detailed the grievances that were on both reviews to which the owner got sassy with us and ultimately ended up refunding the $100 because I told them if they had not lied about us, I wouldn't be back asking for my money for Birria that they can see on camera as they said they reviewed footage, to see that we DID NOT even receive the birria noodles. The owner offered us shots of tequila and alcohol and when we said we don't want alcohol, we want the money back for the food that we did not receive he gave us our money back. It was not as they claim in good faith because they want customers to leave happy. It was because we refused to leave without the money for the birria that we did not receive as they claimed they had on camera our order being packed and "looking good".

ONCE AGAIN, IN MY ORIGINAL REVIEW I FORGOT TO ADD THAT I PAID FOR BIRRIA AND I DID NOT GET THE DISH. TO CLARIFY, I PAID FOR BIRRIA NOODLES AND GOT ZERO - SORRY I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT IN MY ORIGINAL REVIEW.

*EDIT TO ADD. Indeed I forgot to add that we ordered birria ramen. I made the review several days after. Our birria ramen contains not one single noodle and it's a shame that it even was listed as ramen and I would have returned for a full refund if I had the time, as RAMEN should contain noodles. Additionally I have no reason to lie as the restaurant has accused me of. I am a top reviewer with multiple reviews, even 2 positive reviews given that same weekend. We ate the food within 20 min. Tortillas do not get a stale smell, taste and texture in even some hours time. What shameful customer service. I also didn't mention that they were drilling into the bar with a power drill during open service and the staff was loudly joking with each other inappropriately - because I have no reason to give some sort of overly negative review like the restaurant has strangely accused me of.

ORIGINAL REVIEW The food from this place was highly disappointing. Sunday afternoon my partner and I ordered both a shrimp and steak fajitas. We didn't make it through either. The tortillas were awfully stale! The smell, taste and texture confirmed. The steak was poorly seasoned and undersalted. The cook on the veg varried depending which piece. The rice on the contrary was too salty to consume for both plates. There was a tablespoon of cheese given for each order. The seasoning was off in general, like it was burnt. All these issues, unable to finish the food, for sky high prices (approx $90). I would not give this restaurant...

What Was Ordered

$10 margaritas (Guava, Mango, Lime)

One absurdly massive goblet version that looked like it was designed for Poseidon

Chili-lime rims that slapped harder than they had any right to
