If I could give the Parkdale Hall a ten-thousand star review, I would! With the help of CEO Alex and his staff, I threw a phenomenal milestone birthday party for around 40 guests at the Atlantis Café on July 29, 2023. It was an absolutely amazing event that might not have even happened had it not been for Alex.
I’d originally had a different venue booked for my party. FIVE DAYS before the event, I learned that the space would no longer be available due to unexpected construction! After several hours of scrambling, a friend and I found the Parkdale Hall and reached out by phone. Alex responded promptly and due to some sort of miracle, it was available on such short notice so we arranged for a site visit by the end of the day. When we went to view the Atlantis, Alex was so helpful with his thoughts and ideas, working with us in real time to find creative solutions and pivot an event that was originally envisioned for a very different type of space. I was absolutely delighted, and once I’d booked the space, I assured Alex that the Atlantis was not some sort of consolation prize for me – it was the space I should have booked all along, because I thought the party would be even better there than it would be in the old space. Turns out I was very, very right!
From the minute we booked the Atlantis, the logistics became a thousand times easier, and everything just fell into place. Richard, one of the staff, worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help facilitate deliveries and ensure logistics were in order. The turnaround/setup before the party, from hip daytime café to swanky yet fun-and-festive evening resto-bar, went quickly and smoothly. Mandi, our server for the evening, was so friendly, and welcoming, and through his incredible care and attention to detail he made sure that my guests and I had a wonderful time – as a small example, he opened the first bottle of champagne almost all the way, then passed it to me so that I could have the joy of the first “pop” to kick of the event. He made so many lovely gestures like this to many of us throughout the evening and was always so warm and gracious.
With the help of the Parkdale Hall, I was able to throw the most amazing birthday party, and it was truly one of the best nights of my life! We ate well, drank fantastic champagne, and danced the night away at the Atlantis. All of my guests had a wonderful time and many of them told me it was one of the most spectacular events they’d ever attended. I am already looking forward to hosting future...
Read moreI really hate writing reviews like this but I went to the Que Calor Halloween event last night Oct 26th, 2024 and have never been so disappointed at an event in my life.
The event was clearly so poorly mismanaged and just utter chaos. I suspect that the organizers overbooked the event.
I arrived around 11:00 or so. My group joined a bit later, and like many others. we waited upwards of an hour and a half to two hours in the freezing cold just to get in the door despite the fact that we had advanced tickets. No organization of the lines whatsoever (people were spilling out of the barracades and into the street, people cutting the line, etc) and no seperate lines for people with and without tickets. People were confused and no information was given to us by security or staff whatsoever. Fights broke out between guests and between guests/security. Security was clearly very disorganized.
By the time we finally got in it was less than an hour from last call. And while the music was good and we got to dance a bit, there were alot of issues inside the venue as well.
Guests were very rowdy, either cause they arrived drunk or because they were being overserved (and drinks were also super expensive). Either way, this caused alot of issues in the event. At one point in the night even the DJ was yelling at people to get off the stage because they wouldn’t leave when asked. Bathrooms had super long lines and ran out of toilet paper well before the night was over.
Honestly I don't know if it was the event organizers or the venue who were running the event and who hired the security, but regardless, this is something that both need to address.
We'd been looking forward to this event for awhile and was told it was good, but it ended up being a complete waste of our time and $35. Will not be attending this venue again or any events by the organizers.
I do sincerely hope that this review is taking into account by all involved and that things get better in the future. It could have been a really...
Read moreI have to say, we went for the "Best of Zelda" experience and it was underwhelming. I already anticipated that since a friend of mine went to the same hall for the "Coldplay" concert and she was underwhelmed as well. There was only one pianist and that's it. Would've been more enjoyable if we had at least one accompaniment. I had another friend who watched the candlelight concert at another location and they had 4 string instruments. So I guess it was just at parkdale where they only have 1 person performing. But no, I had another friend go see the anime one and she said she had a great time as they had 4 people as well... at Parkdale Hall 😑 My personal opinion, if you can find out ahead of time if there will be more performers, then it should be worth it? If it's only 1 performer, it's very underwhelming for what it was priced for. Also the folding chairs were not the greatest and the constant beeping of the debit machine in the background was distracting. They handed our ferrero rocher bars at the end though, maybe as compensation for...
