First of all, I’m surprised how a restaurant can boast of 5-star rating after 130+ reviews. Well, can’t say it doesn’t deserve it after trying for myself. We went to this place for dinner and it was empty when we entered. But people flocked in every 2-3 mins after us until all tables were full. Big shoutout to the clean ambience of it with large tables and those spaced out properly. First of this in Downtown. Next up, food. Oh my Gawd, for taste, veg options and prices. It’s super economical, gives you all sort of options in Tibetan cuisine with a proper accommodation of vegetarian choices. Everything that we ordered was delectable. We had Dry Yellow Laphing, Sweet Corn Soup, Steamed Veg Momos and Chilly Chicken combo. Portions are good too except soup. Must-haves are Laphing, Chilli Chicken and Soup. After all this, it costed under 40 bucks. Alsoooo, a happy place with happy staff, happy people around. Loved the homely vibe to it. Already saved this as a favorite. Will be back for more. . Edit: Tasty Tibetan Food 🥟🍜 This is our second visit to this place and we discovered it back when it was just 3 month old. It feels like a personal achievement, now that it is one of the most popular Tibetan joints in Toronto. It’s A-class in Food, Service and Ambiance. Some of the must-haves from my two visits are: Dry Laphing (Veg) Sweet Corn Soup (Veg) Fried Rice (Veg) Manchurian (Veg) Steamed Momos (Veg) My husband’s Non-Veg recommendations Shambhala Special Fried Chicken Chili Chicken You could avoid Hot & Sour soup as I personally found it to be too thick for a soup and Pan-Fried Momos as those are a bit too oily. The prices are affordable - well within the budget for college students and working professionals alike. The service is extremely homely and you’ll be immediately comfortable. It is a humble joint but extremely spick and span clean and neat washrooms. You’ll get authentic Tibetan vibes with Prayer flags and Tibetan photographs. Highly recommend this place. 🌸. . 🚨‼️Bad Review Alert🚨 ‼️ I never ever leave bad reviews unless the food dosnt taste good or the service or some other reasons and not even bad but i help them imrpove. But today was a very horrific experience that i had with this restaurant i was so keen on having tibetan food here with my husband im a sucker for tibetan food and i try out most of the restaurants. So i reached shambhala kitchen around 8pm it was pretty occupied with people so less space to dine in, i checked with the girl at the counter who was soo busy alone handling right from taking orders to serving them single handed. There was a couple ahead of also waiting to be seated, when asked for the ETA she didnt have an answer so she took our name and we patiently waited eager to try out shambhala kitchen, waiting waiting now its 8.15 so we placed a take out order just for schewan chowmein. After few mins we see a table got empty we requested her if we could dine in just to eat the noodles she refused again we tried to ask and we also mentioned that we wudnt order anything else only the noodles we will be eating, she got so frustrated and started yelling at us she removed her entire day frustration on us not only that she even abused us front of all the other customers and when i asked her ill not talk to you ill talk to your manager she threw the cards on me and said go ahead and call him. And she kept abusing and yelling at us, finally we asked for a refund which she refused and again after few mins she comes to us rudely saying come here ill refund you the amount. We took the refund and left. Horrible service, experience. I genuinely thought i could try out their food but i guess this place needs more staff and quick service as i also noticed people who came before us their orders were literally taking 15-20mins per dish. Manager needs to look into this matter as soon...

Visited on Thursday, April 11/24 around 5PM for dine in.

When I first looked up this place I noticed the 4.9 rating and was like ??? It's very rare to see a 4.9 rating with over 1000 reviews.

To confirm yes, they are review spiking - if you leave a 5 star or positive review they give you 5% off your bill so take that information as you will.

**Also please for the love of God, OIL YOUR DOOR - it was so squeaky the sound was hurting my ears...

When we walked in we were the only patrons at the time. Atmosphere was nice and cozy. Customer service was fine - nothing above and beyond.

Portion size to cost I think is pretty fair. Portions are quite decent. I was surprised. I couldn't finish either of my dishes so now they are lunch!

Our food took a VERY long time to come out and my guess is because they don't freeze their momos; I'm assuming they assemble and steam/cook them when we ordered them. Because for a Thursday early dinner our orders took a while before they hit the table.

I got the Steamed Momos, Shambhala Mixed Thukpa and a Peach Ice Tea.

This was my first time having Tibetan food so I have nothing to compare it to - but my friend who is an expert says everything was excellent. Next time I want to try the deep fried or pan fried momos.

That being said the Momos were so tender, the Thukpa was very flavourful (got chicken Dumplings with this) however I wasn't a fan of the noodles in the soup. It just felt like empty carbs to me and the noodles didn't provide any flavour - yes I could have added vinegar or chilli sauce but I wanted to see what it was like on its own.

The peach tea was delicious! Definitely recommend but towards the end it got sweet so save some of your table water and pour it in.

*I didn't get the 5% off because I am writing this review after my visit. I would still recommend this place for authentic...
