Ikki sushi has moved to the south side of Kingston road. I wanted to check this place out in the hopes that the food might have improved as they were a lower end mediocre choice but close by and not horrible. Boy was I wrong. The new location has only builders paint and already dirty walls. They brought their crappy tables and booth seats propped up by unfinished, visible 2 by 4's. Then worst came - the food. Their menu specifies all vegetables are now steamed. I did not think it would be only steamed ... No sauce to speak of. I got, as you can see, half a plate of plain steamed vegetables. I did not go to a restaurant for something I can choose to eat and make at home myself. The meat was also tough and the only thing covered in teriyaki sauce. The tempura had the flour raw still on the vegetables and the tempura itself was without flavour. You know what the best part of my meal was? The salad. With the thousand Island dressing, and barely separated lettuce leaves. Somehow this place got worse and I absolutely will not go back.

i’ve done takeout from here before but tonight was my first time dining in. i adore the rice here and the chirashi din is absolutely delicious. i ended up taking half home to prolong my absolute joy. the tamago was a little frozen but it didn’t bother me much as it was delicious later at home. love love love it. my mother had the tempura ramen and she enjoyed it as well. the broth was not overly salty but you can always add shoyu if you like a salty strong broth (i preferred how it came but ik some like their ramen pretty salty). the tempura was crispy and warm and the tsuyu was great with it. the man who served us was nice and we enjoyed our meal (especially since it’s so close for us). small quaint place to dine :) we will definitely be continuing to order takeout and dine in when we can! salmon and butterfish is always delish.

Local surprise - very impressed. After living 2 blocks away from this spot for 5 years we finally decided to give it a try. The food was not a disappointment (I don't know what some reviewers were complaining about). We'll definitely be back again! The facilities are clean and homey - not pretentious - this is not a fancy restaurant. A comfortable place to enjoy time with the people with whom you are sharing your meal.

UPDATED: Well I recently came here again and I have to be honest and lower my score (Used to be a 5). I came here for take out Thursday Morning and was the only person there. Was served by an older man, but he came off as really abrasive. Sat me down despite me wanting to get takeout, didn't give me a lot of time to choose my food, and then didn't communicate with me on if it would have been allowed for me to leave and come back once my food was ready. No communication on how long the food would take to get to me. Eventually he comes back out, I pay for my food, I get my food, then he tells me thank you. As I'm picking up my backpack, he then follows me as I leave repeating "THANK YOU COME AGAIN" really loudly and abrasively. I have no idea what's going on at this point.

When I get home and eat the food I'm... disappointed. The price did increase slightly (What was once $14 is now $18), but the food quality has went down. The beef that I got was hard and weird tasting, and was doused in sauce. While the sweet potato tempura was good, I got green pepper and broccoli tempura as well (???) that was just inedible and under cooked. The sushi was fine. The dumplings were fine. The soy/teriyaki sauce was trash, the salad serviceable.

Needless to say, I probably wont be coming back, mostly because of the weird service and subpar food. Since they increased their prices, there are now a lot of other Japanese food places around Scarborough that serve better quality food with better service that i would recommend. It sucks for me to see this place go downhill and I hope they improve, but considering that they moved locations I don't know if they have enough time to make...
