Ikkoi: Our Little Slice of Comfort and Deliciousness
My wife and I, we've got our spots, you know? Places that just feel like home, even when we're out. Ikkoi Japanese Cuisine is definitely one of those. It's not just the food, though that's a huge part of it. It's the feeling we get when we walk in.
We're not fancy people. We like good, honest food, and we like feeling comfortable. And that's exactly what Ikkoi gives us. The ramen? It's like a warm hug on a cold Toronto evening. Seriously, the broth is something special. We've had our share of ramen, but this? This is different. And the Dragon Roll (Unagi)? Rich, flavorful, and just… right. It's become our little ritual.
But more than the food, it's the people. The staff at Ikkoi, they remember us. They ask how we're doing, they smile, and they genuinely seem happy to see us. It's those little things that make a difference, you know? Like, they understand that we're there to relax and enjoy each other's company, and they create that space for us.
We've had some really lovely days at Ikkoi. Just us, some good food, and a chance to unwind. It's become our 'go-to' when we need a break from the everyday. It's not about being trendy or anything like that. It's about finding a place where we feel comfortable and where the food is consistently delicious. And Ikkoi? It's that...
Read moreSmall family run restaurant in Etobicoke. Decor is reminiscent of Japanese restaurants that are hard to come by. Cute sushi 🍣 pictures, chopsticks displays and tea ceremony items on the walls. Only disappointment is no in ground seating, only booths and regular seats. Fish was fresh, had the chirashi don. My foodmates had the karaage chicken which was fresh and tasty. The yam tempura werr perfect squares and well cooked, not soggy or overly done, just perfect. Plating was beautiful with some carved flower vegetables on the plate. Rice was tasty with flakes of seaweed, and cooked well.... Service was good...wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Prices were reasonable: Dinner for three was $100, with two appetizers (karaage and sashimi scallops). Bento was $23ish, came with salad, and Chirashi was $24, which came with soup. Will be my favorite sushi place in Etobicoke now. Overall: Family run sushi restaurant with cute decor...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to drop in for some ramen noodle and sushi after some Xmas shopping. First time coming here, the restaurant is very quaint and unassuming. The service was friendly and timely. We ordered some hot saki for two, edamame, salmon skin roll and two orders of king ramen noodle.
The portion sizes for the roll and edamame were generous. The edamame was lightly seasoned and fresh while the salmon skin roll had a good, equal portion of salmon skin and rice.
The star of the show was the ramen noodles. The broth was extremely tasty and not too spicy, with the slices of chasu (pork), sprouts, seasoned egg and ground pork. The chasu had a greaf 5-spice hint and was tender enough to stay intact in the broth.
I would highly recommend visiting this place if you are seeking a nice, comfortable dining experience with amazing food and...
