Indeed a hidden gem. Bet very few might be knowing about this rich, unique heritage as not much is advertised for it.

Incidentally saw one of these during driving on the road, wanted to take picture of it and then discovered a whole lot of them distributed across the street.

Returned with proper camera and took pictures, some of them here, the real feeling can be only when you see them in front of you.

A short description goes like this : The Islington Village murals are about the history of the Toronto neighborhood, depicting historic events, people, and daily life from the 19th and 20th centuries. The murals were created by artists like John Kuna and Sarah Collard as part of a community beautification project that began in 2005. Examples of historical subjects depicted in the murals: Early settlement: Murals show the founding families like the Applebys and the area's origins before it was called Islington. Local businesses and services: Scenes include the former Gordon's Dairy delivery service, a local shoemaker from the early 20th century, and a hotel owner during prohibition selling soda pop. Community and social life: Depictions include the historic Etobicoke Township Hall, a mural of the Islington Golf Club, and a piece showing the evolution of school graduation photos. Major events: Murals commemorate events like Battersby's March in 1813 and the aftermath of Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which affected the area significantly.

Highly recommend and every person who is proud of Toronto...

Where do I begin? Booming traffic that reminds you of the hustle-bustle of everyday life and one step away from them are these murals that possess the power to transcend you to a time unbeknownst but which you can feel them in your soul. Be it the family that founded Islington or the snippet from a shoemaker's life- the murals reminds you why art exists. The urge to not miss any of them is overwhelming solely because of what you experience with each of these murals. Don't forget to visit the brooke coz I think it has healing powers #NotKiddingAtAll #AMustVisit Iam so fkn glad I chose to...

I lived in this neighborhood for 7 years and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the artist, John Kuna, work on a couple of murals each summer. The murals bring colour and good energy to this stretch of businesses. Best way to learn about the past. A must-see for everyone living in nearby neighborhoods like the...

What a wonderful discovery. To the Village of Islington, well done. Not only are these murals beautiful to see, but learning the history behind each of them, which is captured on the plaque, makes it a fun, educational experience. Look for the map, which shows the location of each.

The street is filled with very beautiful murals. Each of murals also explained with the description in its side. So people can understand about the mural. It's really interesting.
