This place is extremely expensive for what you get. All the dishes were about 30-50% more costly than what you would expect at a comparable restaurant (generic, old storefront place in one of those Toronto vernacular 60s stripmalls with two rows of front parking and a flat above). It was as if they had just printed new menus with 5 years of inflation priced in. I recall a platter of just Bulgogi beef being listed for nearly thirty dollars.

My wife and I tried this place after striking out two other places we found on Google (one didn't do dine-in, one sold pre-packaged rolls), so I didn't want to move us again even after we saw the menu.

The medium sushi/sashimi/maki platter we ordered was $96 before tip and tax and merely got us pleasantly full, with no leftovers. All in, we wound up spending around $120 to consume a simple sushi-for-two and water.

The sushi itself was...OK, probably about the average of all sushii I have had in my lifetime, which is quite a bit. The salmon was above average, soft and fatty, if not quite melt-in-your mouth. The tuna had a poor texture, as if it had previously been frozen. The other fish was pretty unremarkable, and I didn't really enjoy it (no unagi). The tempura maki was enjoyable. If the sushi was free, I would rate it three stars. Adjusting standards to the price charged, it is definitely one star material.

The restaurant itself is full of plants and not attractive inside, although the downstairs bathrooms are nicer than you would expect. We sat in one of the booths initially. It wasn't very comfortable and then, weirdly, we both got very itchy. Don't know if it was some cleaning agent or bugs or something else, but the problem went away when we moved to a standalone table in the centre of the restaurant.

We will try a different option in...

Update May 2023: We regularly go to this restaurant but I don't think we will be coming back. After dinner we were still enjoying our hot tea when the owner already removed our placemats, wanted to already get our teacups and started connecting two more tables to seat more people. That was absolutely rude of the owner, she wanted us to immediately vacate our table because she needed the table when we were not done yet. We told her that we will not be coming back because of this treatment. This is the height of poor customer service.

This is the place I go for Salmon sashimi, softshell crabs, agedashi tofu, Bi Bim Bap, Shrimp Tempura. You can also order party trays of sushi and sashimi. I have tried other food in their menu like their chicken/beef/salmon teriyaki and they are all so good. The food is always fresh and reasonably priced. Update: We keep going back to this place. This time we ordered their Lunch Special. My friend ordered the Beef Teriyaki Bento and I ordered the Bulgogi and Tempura. It is served with miso soup, rice, agedashi tofu, salad and sushi. Food is always fresh and...

Love the place! From the food to the service to the atmosphere of the place. We ordered Hae Mu Chim (raw fish salad) for an appetizer. The spicy and sour really kick the stomach.

We moved next to the Lobster Tail Roll and Spicy Seafood Udon, and properly with the weather a bit cold outside, the udon was very heartwarming. The proportion was just right as well.

The star of the show was Sashimi Dinner. With a lot more salmon than a normal one would be, the salmon itself was buttery, fresh, and fantastic. Alongside were tuna and whitefish, which were delicious too.

Thank you the owner for taking us in last minute! We were pretty hungry in the cold weather. The service was still polite and welcoming. A...

Rarely you come across a place which exceeds all expectations - Tojo Sushi , by far hits all those marks when it comes to Sushi ! We were looking for a quiet place with great food and I must say - this is it. We were greeted as soon as we walked in , the staff is very friendly and Uber nice - along with our meal we were also given a great salad and some additional tasting options - A must try is the Toji Special Role with some spicy mayo. A true hidden gem in Toronto when it comes to sushi and if you are in the area a def place to check out !
