Winterlicious dinner was a disaster! Service unprepared, unprofessional, lacking in every degree. Quick to take a cocktail order (which came a visibly short in the glass), to get you started, then waited at least 45 min to get appetizers, and each person's was delivered at different times (4ppl), so we shared them as they came out ever so slowly, keeping in mind some items were not exactly shareable. Waited another 30 minutes for the entree, it too came at different times. Dim sum platter for entree was attractive, lots of hand work involved but not delicious. Burnt rice (was told this was normal, grandmothers recipe) with soup item was so burnt we couldn't enjoy it or scrape it from bottom of bowl. Was told it was suppose to be this way but it was black, tasted like charcoal in the mouth. After two hours half of our party left while waiting for dessert and when the remainder finally did arrive it was once again, served in pieces and we didn't even receive the four portions as we left. The second seating was arriving and some people hadn't even received their entree from the first seating. The music was also too loud for the space we were in, we asked the server to reduce the volume and he said he couldn't reduce it as when the room filled up with diners it wouldn't be too loud, that was not the case. All in all, lots of improvement needs to be made. Very unprofessional in service and feels like a lack of experience and professionalism in the kitchen. The price for what we paid was too much, it was a disappointing meal and experience.
What happened to the Winterlicious where top restaurants participated and the diners were enthralled??
This restaurant was guaranteed our money as we preordered the menu & gave a cc in case we didn't show up, but they couldn't deliver their own pre ordered menu and the customers are stuck carrying the cost, no compensation even considered on...
Read moreI was drawn to Resurrection Restaurant + Japanese Whisky Bar after coming across some enticing social media content, and I was excited to experience it firsthand. The visit was a blend of highs and lows, and I think it’s only fair to share both.
The Good: Food: The Calamari and Tiger Shrimp we ordered were delicious. The flavours were spot on, although I’d personally recommend offering a different sauce than the wasabi mayo base, which felt a bit overpowering. Ambiance: Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior of the restaurant is beautifully done. It has a nice, cozy feel that elevates the dining experience. Bar Aesthetics: The bar area is particularly striking – a real highlight in terms of design and atmosphere.
The Bad: Drinks: Unfortunately, the Kumo & Violet Delight cocktails didn’t hit the mark for us. Both drinks were left unfinished, and despite mentioning this to our server, no further action was taken. A gesture like removing them from the bill or offering an alternative would have been appreciated. Service: The service didn’t quite meet our expectations. With the restaurant not being busy, we hoped for more attentive service. Our interaction felt overlooked, and the sense of hospitality was missing. Availability: It was disappointing to find that two appetizers we were eager to try (General Tao Chicken & La Kalbi) were sold out, limiting our choices.
I’m generally hesitant to leave negative reviews, understanding the hard work that goes into running a restaurant and the impact reviews can have. However, feedback is crucial for improvement.
My hope is that this review is seen as constructive, with the aim of enhancing future dining experiences. I believe in giving places a second chance and would encourage others to try Resurrection Restaurant, perhaps after some...
Read moreFinally! An amazing spot for cocktails and delicious food in our area! Resurrection is our new favourite spot in Etobicoke hands down.
First, the cocktails: Incredibly inventive and unique. They are complex and have a wide variety, and the Japanese whiskeys are so good. We have not come for a flight yet, but that is next on our list. This is a perfect spot to take friends to show off a cool spot in your area.
The food: Having been to Japan, you can tell that the same care and skill goes into the food here. Portions are perfect and the flavours are so perfectly balanced. We adored the dim sum, popcorn chicken and the salted egg bao.
Service has always been great for us. Our waiter even called back when he noticed we booked a reservation at the wrong time, and another he went above and beyond when he heard it was my birthday.
One thing to keep in mind: this is a small establishment with a small staff! This may mean that if the place is packed, wait times are longer. I do not think this is unreasonable as this is a local family run establishment and there is one server waiting tables, making cocktails and cleaning. If you go during a busy time, just be ready to take some time - they have fabulous cocktails you can sip on while you wait. Be patient - from our experience the food is more than worth it.
