I heard so many good things about JunePlum by Patois patties that I needed to visit and try it out.
The retail location is right next to Patois, their mother restaurant, that serves Caribbean dishes with Asian influences. It’s one of the must places to go especially if you are into Caribbean food.
That’s why I was excited when I heard that they were venturing out into patties.
As soon as you walk into the retail space at JunePlum, you feel like you have been whisked away to a Caribbean destination. Upon gazing their patties, the first thing you’ll notice is that they have a unique shape and a fold. This allows you to see the filling inside. The filling to crust ratio is perfect. The crust might seem to be thick visually but they are so soft and flaky. I was pleasantly surprised.
They have two original flavours for their patties: Smoked Brisket with Oxtail Gravy and the Curry G.O.A.T. They recently added two more flavours: Coconut Crab Rundown and Vegan Cashew Callaloo Rundown.
We ordered the Smoked Brisket, Curry GOAT and Coconut Crab Rundown. All their patties had quality ingredients and were delicious but I have to go with the Smoked Brisket if I have to choose one.
Don’t confuse them with regular patties that you can get in other places, they are not. The food, service and atmosphere are all top notch. So you are probably wondering why am I rating it just a 4/5? The price is the only reason. I understand that they are high quality ingredients and there’s a lot of it but people experience and expectations are geared to a certain price point. You can’t ignore that and is not the fault of JunePlum. Once you are able to get past that, the patties are a must!

Read moreI recently made the drive to June Plum based on my positive dining experience at Patois, and I'm happy to say that June Plum lives up to the hype. As a fan of Patois' delicious offerings, I had high expectations for June Plum, and they did not disappoint.
Their patties are truly exceptional, boasting some of the best flavors in the Toronto area. The fillings are flavorful, and the pastry is perfectly flaky, just like I remembered from Patois.
However, I must mention the slight downside of the wait time. Despite ordering just two patties, I found myself waiting for about 10 minutes. While I understand the logistics of a shared kitchen, June Plum operates as a separate entity and should strive for quicker service, especially for those looking for a quick takeout option.
Despite this minor inconvenience, I still highly recommend June Plum. The quality of their patties is unmatched, and you'd be hard-pressed to find better elsewhere in Toronto. Just be prepared for a slight wait, and trust me, it'll...
Read moreCame here because I wanted to try their patties since I saw them on IG.
Small, clean "cafe style" shop with drinks and some packaged foods for sale. Sales person was nice. Four seats by the window for customers (but it's quite cramped... it probably would fit 2 people realistically).
Was a bit shocked at the price of a patty ($9.75 each) but I do admit that the crust was good and it was full of meat (I had oxtail; wanted to try curry goat but they didnt have any when I stopped by). Good rational crust to meat. Also bought a Tahitian Treat.
Was it the best patty that I'd ever had? No. The price, taste, and the fact that I was still hungry afterwards is the reason why I'm rating it 3 out of 5. If it was the most amazing patty that I'd ever had, maybe I'd rate them differently but it...
