I went here along with a few colleagues for a smorgasbord of pizza. Not kidding, we literally ordered one of each pizza on the menu. It wasn't busy and the owner was a truly a stand-up dude. He went out of his way to move around some tables to accommodate our group. Not a ton of seating but enough for us. Also helped that we were the only ones there. The place is designed more for quick bites and to go orders. This doesn't detract from the pizza though. I only have my Canadian Large Detroit Style pizza pictured here but we ordered everything and it was all very good. Even the Duck Confit - which I don't have the palate for but was still great! I lived in Windsor for a few years and went to Detroit every other weekend and let me tell you that Renaissance Detroit Style Pizza was a pretty authentic experience pizza wise. I've never been a fan of the sauce on top but he nailed it. Also, let me state for the record - the crust is nothing short of amazing...that first bite when the pizza is hot. It's difficult to describe. Crispy but fluffy. Soft and light. Caramalized edges... and did I mention those cup and charred pepperoni? Ahh! Life is good when you have all kinds of pizza in front of you. Also no waste from us - we ate everything and brought the rest back to our hotel rooms for those midnight munchies! Definitely, a great experience and would recommend anyone staying downtown to at least give Renaissance Detroit Style Pizza a go. It is worth the money.

Located on the southwest area of Dundas and Bathurst. This pizza spot does not have an accessible entry way, and there's actually a bit of a stairway you need to overcome once inside. I came on a Thursday afternoon on a chilly day. It was empty inside. There's ~3-4 tables that can seat 4 each. They offer slices and full pies of Detroit Style Pizza, as well as sauce dips, and drinks. I ordered 2 pepperoni slices as that was all they had available at the time for slices, although I did see that there was pricing for "premium" slices. The slices seem a bit on the pricey side but they are quite large and more than enough to satisfying my cravings. The dough was great and the service was friendly! The one thing I didn't like was that the tomato was too tomatoey – I know that may seem strange, but I personally prefer mild flavour tomatoes and this one was hitting a little too strongly. I would definitely come back to try a whole pizza when I'm in the area again.

Sadly, this place was a let down for me. Despite getting to the store 10mins before my order was ready, I was told I had to wait because the pie was still in the oven- cool, no biggie, I’m a patient guy. After 12mins, I finally go up to inquire how long it’s going to be and turns out, my pie was already boxed and chilling in the top rack of the oven. Ok, also cool, I mean it couldn't have been in there that long. So, 60 seconds later I’m back home, right down on Euclid Ave. I open the box to take a bite… and the pie was ‘slightly warm’. Now I know they had forgotten about me and my order. But that’s not all, half the pie was undercooked and had a very soggy bottom crust. The other half was ok and edible. Going forward, I’ll be sticking with Descendant since they have a similar price point but deliver a far superior product. It sucks because I was really looking forward to the joy that comes with biting into a Detroit style pie. Shelled out $40.xx for a...
