We arrived shortly before our reservation time and we’re told there were no tables and that it would be a 5-10 minute wait. We were then seated at the back of the patio basically in the trash collection corner. Our waitress was very attentive and took our drink and food orders in a timely manner. We also got our food and drinks in a timely manner, however, when our food arrived we were bombarded with wasps. It was so bad to the point that a few of us (there were 4 of us total) had to get up and stand basically in the street to eat our food. When we asked the hostess if we could move inside, while we were standing in the street trying to eat our food being attacked by wasps, she told us there were no other tables to move to and that there was nothing she could do. The only person who actively helped us was our server who moved us to a table up under a tree on the back deck, where we sat for 5 minutes and then got our check. We were not able to enjoy our food or brunch and stayed at the restaurant under an hour. We had really been hoping for a leisurely relaxing breakfast, but instead we were met with staff who seemed to not care at all about the wasp problem. I mean, a few of the staff just walked right by us as we were standing there being bombarded with wasps (at least 20, not exaggerating). Overall very disappointed with the staff who seemed to not care about our dining experience. Seems like the whole team needs to work on their communication and customer satisfaction. None of our food or drinks were comped even though it was basically impossible to finish our meals. The wasp issue was so bad that as we were leaving the hostess tried to sit a couple back in our area and they immediately said no and ended up leaving to eat somewhere else. Just due to the staff issues and our experience, I wouldn’t recommend eating here. Again, our server was great, she was the only one...
Read moreWe were a group of 3 dined around 3pm on a Sunday. It was busy and there were a lot of servers, ours was very good. We booked a reservation for indoor dining but to my surprise, the whole restaurant had open windows, it was hot which I didn't expect - this should be indicated upon booking. It doesn't make sense to choose between indoor or outdoor when indoor feels like outdoor. It was uncomfortable to eat on hot summer days in this kind of set up - I hate to say this but it's gross. Sunday was so busy too, and I could not believe that this place is cheap on electricity, sales must be big. There was only 2 cubicles to use the bathroom, male and female, there was a line to use the ladies and it was hot uncomfortably hot so I didn't bother. Food tasted cheap and is overpriced. I ordered mac n cheese and there was nothing special that I could make a better one at home. Macaroni used is cheap, I know this because it's hard to over cook italian pasta, theirs is some nasty wholesale macaroni. The iced mocha was ok, could barely taste the chocolate and it tasted like iced coffee which my friend ordered, except that iced mocha had whipped cream. The popular blueberry pancake was homemade and had an after taste from the baking soda / baking powder - they did not perfect the batter. It came with bacon which was ok. This place is over rated , over hyped and over priced. Will not come back again and will never bring anyone I know there. We split the blueberry pancake to 3, nasty mac n cheese for 16.95, iced mocha for 6 dollars - my tab was 33.45 it was...
Read moreWent without reservations on Canada Day weekend after normal brunch hours, thus wasn't busy. Nice looking patio seated on Palmerston with both covered and non covered seats. Can be a nice place to people watch. Option to sit inside. Music is all "old school" pop music including Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Marky Mark, and S Club. Decor inside: Pop culture pillows which includes movie posters and diner bar stools overlooking Dundas Street via an open window bar. Had the side pancakes (2), and smoked salmon eggs benny. English muffins were too hard, didn't even finish it. Smoked salmon is not anything exceptional, corn and bean salad on spring greens was tasty. Best part was the potatoes which were crispy and seasoned lightly, no salt required. Pancakes are fluffy, the brown butter is sweet and a good pairing. My food mate had the chicken and waffles. Chicken is crispy and seasoned well. Waffles were "normal waffles". The tabasco honey can't replace maple syrup. Had iced chai tea...needed to be steeped longer before adding milk, chai taste wasn't strong enough. Tried the house made habenero hot sauce which is "fiery blueberry"- sweet with a spicy base...not a fan since I usually like sour spice like Red Hot's, might be good on chicken if you like sweet spice. Overall: Nice atmosphere, food was moderately good. May not be my first choice on the west end. Cost: $22 Benny, $20 Chicken and waffles, Chai tea $5, side...
