We decided to try Khmer Thai Restaurant based on the Google reviews so we ordered take out.

First disappointment, no mango salad, no mango dishes, really?. Oh, well, papaya salad it is.

But here's the deal breaker: I was initially advised the order would take 30-35 minutes and I agreed to wait. After 30 minutes I was told that I had to wait another 15-20 minutes which I reluctantly agreed since I had a hungry family at home I did not want to confront empty handed.

After 25 minutes I asked for the order again and I was told it was ready and it would take 2 minutes, and I was presented with the total bill. I politely told them that I would pay once all the food was in front of me to which I was replied I could leave if I wanted! Seriously?

Five minutes later I told them I could not wait any longer and I had to leave, to which they responded 'ok, goodbye'.

I do not believe that preparing 4 dishes should take almost an hour in a small place, particularly when take out customers were coming and going and there was only one table being served by the time I left.

I also believe the server could have addresed the situation with a bit more of tact, courtesy and customer appreciation.

Regretfully, I did not get to taste the food, but the attitude of the staff was quite spicy.

Having upset our family dinner plans, I went to another Thai place nearby to try my luck again.

I do not recommend this place considering other excellent alternatives Toronto...

I'm Cambodian and I struggle finding a resto that serves authentic Cambodian dishes. Found this resto and I didn't have high expectations but WOWOW. We ordered their Golden Beef, and it was BOMB. I was really surprised at how good it was. So good that I crave it all the time now. We also ordered the Green Curry Chicken. This was also fantastic. I'm not a big fan of curry but this one was so good that I will order it again. We also tried the Chicken with Ginger, while good nothing to write home about. I haven't tried their soups yet but I'm sure we will be just as impressed. The couple working there are so nice. The resto itself is definitely not fancy. It is now a takeout only spot so the dining room is using as a wait room. They dont open until 5pm, which sucks because I wish I could order from them for Lunch. Quantity is definitely reasonable for the price. I highly recommend you try this spot. order the GOLDEN BEEF. you will be addicted....

As authentic and delicious as Thai food can get in Toronto, from a person who has finally found his go-to Thai spot. Simple pricing scheme, everything at or around $9.95, and enough food to feed one ravenous person or two normal appetites.

And the food itself...RICH...a hint of sweet, a hint of sour, a hint of coconut, a hint of peanut and enough spice for any ethnic that misses the true spice of their mother country. I've had about 15 dishes there, each one with its own taste, each one excellent. Recommend the golden beef and chicken, and the phanaeng kai.

My only suggestion for improvement is to offer smaller portions of their soup - right now they only have one size of all their varieties for around 9.95 that's roughly the same volume as a generic large pho. Enough for a meal in its own, and a bit too expensive to get for one person along with a regular dish. I don't know about you, but I love a little bowl of soup in...

Ordered Pad Thai Sai Kai via delivery. The liquid (not sauce as it should have been) leaked completely out of the snap lid container (it was like putting soup into a box....what could go wrong?) Zero taste! It was listed as very spicy, I would have been happy with ANY type of spice or seasoning. Chicken is processed, breast, super dry. Two slices of cucumber & two slices of tomato, no other veg, a rogue bean sprout was found. At best, it tasted like a mediocre pho. So disappointed and so bland even accounting for the fact that I got it delivered, I can't imagine it would actually have taste or flavour in-person. I tried contacting the restaurant before leaving this review but no luck.

October 2021 4★ a family restaurant with family cooked meals. Portions are good. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dated, but that's not what you come here for. If your looking for some home cooked Cambodian meal, then this isn't a bad option. Apparently, their curries are their specialty. Had the #1 Phanaeng Kai - chicken curry, and it was very good. Slices of chicken breast meat cooked in a spicy curry with peanuts and basil on a bed of rice. Also had #7 Samlaw Khmer - this was ok. Stir fry shrimp, chicken and vegetables in the tamarind sauce isn't bad, but it didn't stand out. Overall not bad. You should consider trying it.

simple, warm, no nonsense restaurant thats all about putting comfort in food... full of flavour, large portions, loads of options on the menu... we loved what the very friendly, funny gentleman who served us recommended... we ate the kako khmer which was different from anything we ate before but phenomenal all the same and the golden beef which was much more familiar but loaded with flavour. we are now fans of Cambodian cuisine... thank you Khmer Thai!
