Please note, my review is base on a different criteria that I hope it encourage to made the changes since it doesn't reflect with different location that looks way better
My friend and I went to get something to eat and casually we here close to King's Tacos.
The atmosphere of the place looks very good, The Waitress were very polite and fast. Everything was going well until we got the menu which are very big in presentation. (The size is around 10.5 inches by 16 inches ) It's very visual which help to the customer to see what can get.. Unfortunately, the images are not as good. They look like were taking with a cell phone.. It would help to make it more attractive if the images show variety and quality since all the dishes looks the same.
We look the dishes and we decided to try the Frijoles Charros with as since the photo that shows looks very big with a traditional look and for me Hawaiian tacos and my friend order the Carnitas.
The waitress came right the way and she was amazing, very fast. After we order we got some nachos and sauces for the tacos. Unfortunately some of the nachos were crunchy and others were like old.
After 10 minutes we got the Frijoles Charros and my surprise was it was serve in a different soup container compared with the photo I order that really it didn't look the same ( presentation vs look).
We try and my first impression was it taste good but it wasn't thick cause of the beans. it was more liquid like it was added more water.
After few more minutes we got the tacos and the tortillas in a hot container with a cover to keep it warm and again my impression in the menu (visual) was it looks big but reality.. no really :(.. It taste very good at the beginning but after you can feel the grease of it. About the tortillas.. some of them were fresh and others it looks like from hours before that were cooked and mixed or might be old.
After we finished, we order the bill and the waitress kindly asked us to go to the front and pay the oder at the cashier, meaning I guess the waitress are not allow to give you the bill or touch the money, so you have to go to the front and pay...
In conclusion: I might think twice to go there and eat again. No for the waitress service which I think they are great.
What it really should help is the menu images that as I mentioned before, they should look more professional and on terms of presentation show to the clients what you see is what you get and to finalize its the food that is greasy and the nachos and tortillas, these should be fresh nor mixed and be reused from the day or 6...
Read moreMy mom and I wanted to try something a bit different, so we gave this place a shot by ordering on UberEats.
All I can say is: WOW! We were both blown away at how delicious this food was.
I ordered the pastor (marinated pork) tacos and my mom got the vegetarian tacos. We also got some chips with assorted sauces (called Combo Chips and Sauces on the UberEats menu). I was initially concerned I might have under-ordered, but the portion sizes ended up being so generous that we ended up with lots of leftovers.
The pastor tacos were to die for. I couldn't believe how unbelievable the flavour was. I would have to think that would be one of their specialty items.
My mom loved the vegetarian tacos as well. They looked quite nice to me, and she liked how they kept the tortillas and filling separate. The filling had lots of roasted veggies and melted queso cheese, as well as fresh avocado.
The chips may have been the best I've ever had. I can't get over how crispy they were. I'm eating some now that were left over from yesterday, and they're still tremendous. I saw another reviewer complain about the lack of salt - I personally liked that they were unsalted so that the emphasis is more on the dips. But I would think that is a matter of preference. I would also guess that leaving them unsalted is how it is done in the part of Mexico where the owner is from, but I am not sure about that.
I did a bit of reading up on this place and it has a lengthy history in this city. Just be mindful that this isn't Taco Bell (or Chipotle), and rather is an informal restaurant that has been around in this city for decades and serves up authentic, northern-Mexican fare.
I enthusiastically recommend trying the food here, and can't wait to order it again and try some...
