Stepping into La Salumeria on Yonge Street is like taking a delightful detour to an old-world Italian deli. Forget the fleeting trends; this little place offers an authentic, no-frills experience where the star of the show is undeniably the food. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by an irresistible bounty of Italian delights. Their selection of cheeses is particularly noteworthy, often featuring unique and hard-to-find options that will impress any connoisseur. Alongside the stellar cheeses, the cold cuts are fantastic, promising high quality and authentic flavours. But perhaps the most raved-about offering at La Salumeria is their sandwiches. Customers consistently praise them as some of the best in Toronto, with many highlighting the perfect proportion of fresh meats, cheeses, and sauces, all nestled in incredible ciabatta bread. Be warned, these sandwiches are generously sized and can often make for two satisfying meals! While some find them a tad spicy, others, especially those with a palate for Calabrian heat, will feel right at home. Beyond the exceptional food, the warm and welcoming atmosphere, often attributed to Carlo, the owner, makes the experience even more special. It's the kind of neighbourhood spot where you can find everything from olive oil to milk and eggs, making it a convenient and cherished local haunt. While some older reviews mention changes in ownership over the years, the consensus is that the wonderful atmosphere and quality have remained. It's a place where the hype is real, and whether you're a long-time local or a first-time visitor, La Salumeria is a must-try for an authentic taste of Italy right in the heart of Toronto. You might just find your new favourite sandwich!

La Salumeria in Toronto presents a rich and authentic Italian deli experience. It is the best Italian deli in the yonge and eg area . The deli offers a broad selection of high-quality meats, cheeses, and specialty products from Italy, all displayed with a charm that feels both classic and welcoming. The shelves are stocked with fine brands, especially a notable selection of Bulleit bourbon and Italian condiments, indicating their commitment to both local and international tastes. The display counters are filled with meticulously labeled cheeses, cured meats, and other deli essentials, showcasing their dedication to quality and variety. One striking feature is the tribute to Italian culture, highlighted by a beautifully detailed map of Italy, emphasizing the regional diversity of the products they offer. La Salumeria also proudly features plaques from various publications, including Taste Toronto and the Toronto Star, which praise their sandwiches and overall offerings. This nod to both local and international recognition underscores the deli’s longstanding reputation as a top-tier destination for those seeking authentic Italian goods in the city. Don’t miss an opportunity to buy the classic sandwich, you won’t regret it. La Salumeria strikes a perfect balance between tradition and variety, appealing to both Italian food lovers and casual shoppers alike. Whether you're there for a delicious sandwich, a unique bottle of spirits, or artisanal meats and cheeses, the experience promises quality and a touch of Italy in the heart of Toronto.

This place has been getting an insane amount of recognition on tic toc it is in my area so of course I had to get on board and go check them out. I ended up going late Saturday afternoon, when I arrived there was a line to the door, a staff member was nice enough to ask if I was here to get a sandwhich I said yes and she told me they have run out of buns which was a good to know so that I didn't waste my time standing there. The next day sunday I went back much earlier, the line wasn't that bad I grabbed a panni roll and waited about 15 min. I ordered the house special the owner ended up making the sandwhich he was very nice. When I got home I immediately went for the sandwhich, it had a very unique taste because of the fig jam, the flavour profile was salty sweet, the bun was fresh and overall the sandwhich was good I only ate half of it and was full. Would I say that this was the best sammi I've ever had? Not quiet I think it's a decent sandwhich and that the social media hype about it is a bit extra. I would go back if I happen to be in the area but I would probably just order a regular sandwhich that prices in under $15. If you get a chance to go because you are in the area sure check it out but if you live a distance away I'm not sure I personally would go out of my way. However if you do stop in also check out the great products the store has they have alot of imported goods and the owner and staff are very friendly. Give a thumbs up if you found this helpful!

I couldn't believe how delicious the house special sandwich was. It truly, fantastic.

It was my first time there and I arrived right around noon on a Thursday, just beating the lunch rush. A line quickly formed behind me as I tried to figure out how to order a sandwich. At this time of day, most people there wanted sandwiches, not grocery type items. I had done a bit of reading online before going but the experience was a bit intimidating.

I knew to grab a bun on the right when you walk in and bring it to the deli counter. Once there I handed it to an employee who asked me what I wanted. I couldn’t see a menu board, so I asked how this worked and pretty much was told you can pick any meat(s) and cheese(s) from the deli counter, and they would go on the sandwich. Toppings beyond that aren’t listed anywhere, but I was offered mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, hot peppers. I ordered a turkey and smoked cheddar sandwich with all those toppings. I was also offered the house special and even though I’m not a huge fan of prosciutto I decided to try that for the second sandwich rather than hold up the line trying to figure out what I wanted from the large array of meat and cheese options.

There are clearly more toppings available but without a list, if you don’t know what to ask for, you won’t be getting them. This was the only thing missing from the experience. Maybe this info is posted somewhere, and I was just overwhelmed and didn’t see it.

I will be going back to get the house special and probably during a less busy time, to try out something a bit more unique and explore other...
