Letterbox Doughnuts — Restaurant in Toronto

I’m thrilled I discovered Letterbox Doughnuts through a friend who posted her doughnuts on Instagram.

I read on BlogTO that this business was started by three close friends as a side hustle, and I believe one of the founders is BIPOC — as a woman of colour myself, that makes me want to support them even more.

That aside, their product — custom flavoured and decorated doughnuts that spell a message of your choosing — is genius.

I’ve ordered from Letterbox many times now, and my order is always correct (no matter how detailed), fresh, delicious, and delivered on time — every order is baked the morning of delivery.

My go-to order is rainbow sprinkle doughnuts (similar to what you would find at Tim Hortons). On that note, I love that Letterbox Doughnuts are yeast based, versus cake based. Yeast based doughnuts are lighter and fluffier.

I missioned from the east end of the city all the way to Parkdale last weekend for the stationery show, only to discover a 2 hour wait to get in. Totally unprepared for that, I started the 1.5 hour journey back home, feeling pretty defeated. On a whim, I stopped into Letterbox after catching the smell of cinnamon from the street, and I’m so glad I did. I picked up the best cinnamon bun I’ve ever had, along with a delicious apple fritter. While chatting with the person working, I shared my story of the failed day, and they kindly gifted me a miso cookie. It was seriously one of the best cookies I’ve ever tasted.
