It's a great place to be at. My family loves to be here and whenever we have friends or family we always take them to this restaurant with great food and taste until yesterday as soon as we were done our food and paid the bill my daughter had to go to the washroom and we were waiting on the table for her and suddenly one of the lady server puts table cleaner bottle with dust cloth on top of it right in front of my face and left giving indication that we should leave we politely asked another lady server that we are waiting for our daughter to come back from the washroom so if she can please remove the cleaner away from our face and she said sorry and removed it away .. In a minute same lady server who had put the cleaner in front of us comes back again and start spraying cleaner on the table right in front of our face and we could actually breathe in that spray I had to say to her that we are leaving in two minutes just waiting for our daughter so she said ,' oh, okay' and left. We were really hurt by this behaviour from one of our favourite eateries where we go at least a month and now we have to think twice before we go back there. Also at that time restaurant was not busy at all I had noticed two tables were already empty so I have no idea why she was rushing as if there was a big line up at the entrance...we were just waiting for two minutes for our daughter to come back from the washroom. Very...

As a vegan, it is difficult to find decent places to eat, and Asian food tends to be most difficult. This place has to be the most accommodating I've experienced. The staff know what's in everything, making substitutions/omissions very easy. And they're happy to do it.

The food is delicious! Jhol momo, which is a bowl of wonderful, spicy soup and steamed dumplings... so good. Try it if you haven't, because it's killer. The veg Shangrila noodle dish is flavourful and spicy (not like other places where the vegetarian options, especially noodles, tend to be bland and flavourless). Ther veg chow mein is also very good. The veg hot and sour soup (sans egg) is perfect, as is the tofu manchurian. The portion size of that one could be a bit bigger for the price, but it's still delicious. But one thing you MUST order when you go, vegetarian, vegan or otherwise, is the crispy cauliflower. And you must try it with one of their hot sauces. It is super. Just a flavour explosion!

As mentioned, the service is accommodating, knowledgeable and attentive. There is a minimal wait for food most times we go. They are licensed, so you can have a Mill Street Organic or whatever you like with your meal. If you have not been to Shangrila, you MUST go. You won't be disappointed!

PS we found out they have karaoke every last Friday of the month, and we will definitely be...

Firstly, if this is your first Tibetan Food experience, you will be very disappointed. Tibetan Food is actually very good, just not at this restaurant. Try some of the other Tibetan places on Queen West and you will be pleasantly surprised. The food here is average at best. The momos don't taste great because the meat inside is of low quality, the chicken "specialties" like the manchurian, sweet and sour and chili are all made with very runny, weird-tasting sauce (basically drowning in sauce) and are not very tasty, chili garlic noodle and chop suey are also drowning in this unidentifiable sauce which doesn't taste good. However, if it was only the mediocre food the review would still get 3*, but the owner's daughter, who also does waitress work is so loud and obnoxious, screaming at the top of her considerable voice and acting all high and mighty, that makes the experience dining in very unpleasant. The other waitresses are cowering and running away from her - must be for a reason. Also, if you dare complain about something you will be faced with sarcasm...

According to Wikipedia, Shangrila is a fictional place in Tibet’s Kunlun Mountains, described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon. However, Shangrila does, in fact, exist on the south-western periphery of Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. A visit to Shangrila (the restaurant), seemed to be a visit to Tibet itself. The restaurant’s décor is stunning, with the Tibetan language script lavished throughout and traditional ornamentation panelled on the walls and tables. There are both Western- and Tibetan-style dining areas. Many quotations of Tibetan teachings are on display, however one that I enjoyed most was a simple handwritten note pasted on the wall: “No Wifi, talk to each other.” (photo included). This is wisdom, indeed. I enjoyed the chicken momos with moderately spicy chili sauce. A potential for improvement would be that the sauce seemed to have heavy notes of ketchup which overshadowed the chili taste. For my first foray into Toronto’s Little Tibet, Shangrila was a welcome destination. བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས. Tashi delek!

Went there on New Year’s day with friends since we craving for some Nepali food. They have many items in the menu which I think is the cause for a non- wholesome taste in some of the dishes. The service is good though and we didn’t have to wait much around for the food. But there was something missing, and oh we did order a lot of food ranges, like sukuti, choela, chips chilly, fried chicken and 4 different styles of momos. Would recommend since it has a good family environment, and you can relax and enjoy your meals by sitting on a separate on-the-floor setting and stretch your legs. :)

First and foremost, the owner was present, taking customers orders and constantly ensuring guests were having a great experience. A posture that I absolutely love. As it was my first time dining at this venue, I asked for suggestions and they were delicious. On the other hand, the Tibetan Tea that I deliberately ordered, was peculiar, but I wanted to try. Hahaha I found it very interesting that among the tables and chairs, they have this special area with pillows, cushions, and lowered tables, where you can enjoy your meal in groups, legs crossed at floor level.
