I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lyla, a Mediterranean restaurant that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the sophisticated and elegant ambiance. The beautifully designed bar, excellent lighting, and an impressive array of drink options set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

Lyla’s menu is a culinary delight. I started with the grilled sweet potato, which was perfectly complemented by crispy chickpeas, pomegranate, zaatar, and mint. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that left me wanting more.

The crispy cauliflower with hummus, pomegranate, mint, and confit garlic sauce was another standout dish. The cauliflower was cooked to perfection, and the combination of flavors was both innovative and delicious.

One of the highlights of the meal was the burrata paired with heirloom grilled peaches and basil pesto. The creamy burrata and the sweetness of the peaches, along with the fresh basil pesto, created a dish that was both refreshing and indulgent.

To top it all off, the heirloom carrot and truffle fries were an absolute treat. They were crispy, flavorful, and the truffle added a touch of luxury to this classic side.

The ambiance at Lyla is nothing short of exceptional. The sophisticated decor and elegant atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a special night out. Dining at Lylak Toronto is an unforgettable experience that combines exquisite cuisine, a stunning ambiance, and warm hospitality led by the exceptional manager, Hossep. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine kindness. Hossep set the tone for the evening with his warm smile and thoughtful attention, making us feel not just like customers, but truly valued guests.

The food itself was a masterpiece of flavors and presentation. We enjoyed perfectly seasoned mezze that showcased authentic Lebanese flair with a modern touch. The hummus was silky smooth, the fresh-baked pita warm and fragrant, and the tabbouleh crisp and refreshing. For mains, the lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender with layers of rich spice, while the chicken skewers were juicy, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. Every dish was presented beautifully, showing both care and creativity from the kitchen. Dessert was equally memorable—the pistachio baklava was delicate, fragrant, and not overly sweet, the perfect finish to a remarkable meal.

What tied the entire evening together, however, was Hossep’s leadership and hospitality. He checked in at the right times, offering personal recommendations and ensuring every detail was flawless. His genuine warmth and professionalism made us feel completely at ease. It’s rare to see a manager so dedicated—not just to running the dining room smoothly, but to creating a memorable experience for each guest. It’s clear that Hossep’s guidance inspires his team, as the service was seamless, attentive, and full of positive energy.

Laylak Toronto is already an outstanding restaurant for its food and elegant setting, but it is Hossep’s hospitality that makes it truly shine. Thanks to him, our evening felt both special and personal. I would highly recommend Laylak not only for its authentic, elevated Lebanese cuisine, but also for the kindness and care shown by Hossep and his team. Our initial impression of Lyla Toronto was great, however our experience at the end of the night ruined our opinion of Lyla and both (reso for two) agreed that it will not be worth another visit. If you want to feel rushed and be told that your table is no longer available after an hour and a half this might be a good option for you. But after spending a good amount of money (e.g., ordering a bottle of wine, appetizers, mains, and etc) it left a bitter taste on the night and Lyla will be remembered as a rushed experience.

We thought the food was good and that our server was extremely friendly; however, it was an extremely rushed experience. Appetizer, food, coffee, and bill come flying at you making you feel rushed. We arrived on time and at about 1 hour and 45 minutes into our night the hostess approached and stated that they had another reservation at the table. Our bill was brought to the table with our espresso and we didn’t ask for the bill yet. My partner wanted to order another cocktail. Aka thanks for coming but its time to leave we felt lol or you can be moved to the bar for whatever else you want. Mean while the couple next to us arrived extremely extremely late.

If you want to come for a date or a night out and want to enjoy your company I would recommend you pick another location. If you want to come for a rushed experience this may be a good choice for you! I was never told Hey you need to leave your table at a restaurant before especially considering we were spending ($300.00 bill for two in a hour and half lol). Wasn’t about the money; however we felt that experience at the end of night was very unclassy for a restaurant that wants that title OR should be told that the reso has a time limit. But, it’s alright being near Queen street we had many options available for the extra cocktail.
