This is a great place for traditional Filipino home cooked dishes. Nestled along Bathurst St. across Baycrest Hospital, you can't miss the big "Mang Jose" sign outside. They have about 14 dishes that include goat stew, kare-kare, kaldereta, sinigang, papaitan, bangus sa tawsi, pansit, bicol express,adobo, bistek, sinigang, callos, bopis, etc. They also have their famous fried chicken, krispy pata, and also they have turon and lumpia. They also serve ice cream in rocky road, mango, cotton candy, strawberry, green tea, vanila, etc. Halo halo is also avalailable. Not to mention, they have a variety of kilawin if you are into that. The serving portions are generous and priced affordably. This is a really nice clean place for dine in or take out. There’s no better comfort than food from home! The best and authentic Filipino Cuisine in Canada! My husband and I, were travelling from London and visited Toronto for a week. The comfort food was Mang Jose’s cuisine! I had the, sisig, kilawen na isda and the fried chicken, the fried chicken is crispy, crunchy, tastes perfect and not greasy for a very affordable price. There are multiple menu selections, and we had to go back several times to have a taste of each! From pancit to Kare-Kare, and desserts like halo-halo to name a few! Too many bad experiences with this place. Although close to my condo therefore convenient, ended up being inconvenienced too many times due to crooked staff who play stupid and cashiers constantly trying to scam you by overcharging and/or scoop only broth and hardly any meat in an already puny sized “LARGE” take out container.
