Honestly this place has such potential, and they were once so great, but nowadays they're making it so mediocre.
I went there today with a buddy, we were went there a few years ago, and we really liked it, so we decided to go visit there again on a Saturday morning, so granted, it's packed, from what we saw, about 70% of their seats were occupied, but it wasn't crazy busy, so let's keep that in mind.
First, the good, the coffee was good, although it cost $4, and we were not sure if it's free to refill, but the coffee wasn't bad at all, we asked for both cream and milk on the side, and they came in mini pitchers, which were really cute; the food came in pretty fast, we were hungry, but we were expecting to wait for a while since the whole city's service seems to have taken a downward dive after the pandemic, but this place understands the industry standards of 8 minutes from ordering to serving, the presentation was decent also, if you like to take pictures of your food, they have you covered.
Now the bad, the host greeted us like a robust school mistress trying to discipline wild children, with no smile, with no gratitude, we were taken to the back patio, were were seated in a corner, and then we were forgotten, they came to check up on us once not long after we were seated, but we were not ready, and by the time we were ready, we'd waited a while before someone saw our waving hands and came in to take our order, the server was pleasant enough, but I asked for mayonnaise I was informed that they do not have mayonnaise, now, I understand certain settings don't serve mayonnaise, but a brunch place serving classic brunch menu, mayonnaise should be available; when we received our coffee with those cute pitchers of milk and cream on the side, we were not informed which one was what, then the server went ahead serving other guests, now, the pitchers were white, and the content in the pitchers were not enough for us to determine which one is which, we couldn't tell which one was thicker.
Finally, the ugly, I ordered eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, when serving raw fish, it is crucial to make sure the fish is fresh, but the first thing I noticed was the discolouration on the fish, I thought that might be the cut of the salmon, but the taste of it confirmed the staleness of the fish, which made the the entire plate of what could have tasted so wonderful had the fish were fresh, albeit not entirely spoiled, but enough to make the taste and experience not quite pleasant; after we received our bill, although we have no proof, this could have totally just be in our heads, but it was obvious that the server wasn't pleased with us at all with the tips which we did so accordingly, but honestly, if I were a server, I'd totally understand, but I would still at least put on a fake smile and bid the customers goodbye.
In conclusion, with a bit effort, not even a lot of it, this place can be...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Mia Brunch Bar was nothing short of spectacular, and a significant part of that was due to the exceptional service provided by our server, a young man in a spectacular white/floral shirt. From the moment we were seated, his warm and welcoming demeanour set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon.
He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, providing insightful recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. His enthusiasm for the dishes was contagious, and it was evident that he genuinely cared about ensuring we had the best possible dining experience. Throughout the meal, he was attentive without being intrusive, always ensuring our glasses were filled and that we had everything we needed.
What truly stood out was his ability to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them. Whether it was suggesting the perfect wine pairing or bringing extra napkins just as we realized we needed them, his attentiveness was impeccable. He had a wonderful sense of timing and a genuine passion for hospitality that elevated our entire dining experience.
In addition to his exceptional service, he was friendly and engaging, making us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. His professionalism, combined with his personable nature, truly made our visit memorable. It’s rare to find such a dedicated and talented server, and he is a credit to Mia.
I highly recommend Mia not only for its delicious food and inviting atmosphere but also for the outstanding service provided by their staff. This young man exemplifies the high standards of the restaurant, and I look forward to returning for another delightful...
Read moreMeeting up with friends for brunch. Ordered a french smoked salmon omelette. We had a really bad experience overall. My friend came here in May 2022 and had amazing food. Something must've happened, as the food is quite a lot worse by November 2022
The omelette is poorly made, where the salmon, cream cheese and asparagus all fell out when my fork gently touched it. The omelette is also slightly crispy, which is American style... The salad is very vinegary, masking the flavor of all the vegetables. The brioche toast is truly disappointing. I had better toast from grocery store brand bread.
My friend ordered a keto plate, where there are 7 asparagus, 5 Alice's of tomatoes, 2 over medium eggs (quite undercooked) and 3 bacon. Another friend ordered sunnyside up eggs, but got a fully cooked pick instead.
The waitress was pushing the sale of their $52 Prosecco bottle really really hard. She asked the table for our drink order before I even sat down.
The 75 min seating limit is quite... interesting, considering we got out food 55 minutes after we got seated.
The washroom is absolutely a biohazard. I understand that it has been a busy Saturday, but it isn't acceptable to leave the washroom at that state.
In term of drinks, I ordered an orange and pineapple mimosa. It is honestly not too bad, where they are quite generous with their alcohol.
I am definitely disappointed by this experience. I will never come back again. I would make sure none of my friends get scammed by this...
