I ordered the spicy Tan Tan ramen with a Sapporo beer. I was surprised when the server mentioned that they offer a deal which comes with Gyoza for an additional 50 cents when you order a Sapporo beer. I did see it on the menu before ordering but it did not immediately click when I initially placed the order. I was impressed with the server when she pointed the deal out.

The ramen came with a choice of thick or thin noodles. I ordered the thin noodles which was amazing. The soap broth was spicy but not overpowering. Came with chashu pork, ground pork, bamboo shoots, whole egg cut in half, and chilli. Very tasty and a good value at $17.95.

The gyoza was 5 pieces on a plate and seasoned well with a traditional vinegar shoyu dipping sauce. Very tasty and crispy. When I paid $6.95 for gyoza and a Sapporo beer, the gyoza alone was worth the price.

Sansotei also has a great selection of traditional ramen and is definitely a spot I will visit again to try the other ramen dishes.

Great atmosphere and also has free meals for kids under 12 on weekends when you order two ramen and two drinks.

Tuesday evening is great for anyone 60 years or older since they offer a 15% discount.

Sansotei has multiple locations and different specials depending on the location. The Eglington location is well...

Bold, open and welcoming atmosphere. Large wooden art on one wall and even larger printed Japanese wallpaper opposing. Staff is plentiful and in learning mode but happy to serve. The kitchen is big and open to the front. So you can see everything going on, which I love. The food came quickly and looked beautiful. The stand out though were the flavours! I ordered the Tonkatsu+. Pork meatballs, chashu pork, pastrami pork, large daikon and shiitake mushrooms with a fragrant sweetness. CHEWY smooth noodles in a creamy vibrant broth. EVERY bite was a new experience. Even the pastrami had a bergamot taste that was incredible. I wanted it to go on and on. We also had the croquettes which were crispy and creamy fun.

THAT is what I want from any restaurant. An experience and new tastes. I wanted to be transported. I was.

The menu is simple and small but no two dishes apparently taste the same. They have been curated I am told to be different so each visit can be also.

YAY!

we look forward to...

Fantastic experience. If you’re gluten intolerant, don’t pass this place by because they don’t have GF noodles for you. I almost did. The idea of plopping rice in my lovely ramen broth seemed sacrilegious. But the servers were SO sweet and attentive I decided to stay. And I’m so glad I did. My server recommended the spicy tantan broth since I wanted bold flavor. I was given one bowl with the broth and a second bowl, equally large, with the rice, ground pork, egg and pickled bamboo. The rice and meat were prepared and seasoned so beautifully that I didn’t even want to combine them with the broth. I didn’t want to lose the nuance of its own special flavor. The broth was rich and incredible on its own. Umami blast. I went through the whole meal alternating between the two, only occasionally mixing the two offerings together.

Incredible lunch....

Came for lunch and got the tomato ramen with thin noodles. The egg looked a bit old and off putting and it was cold, the mushrooms were too salty like they were sitting in the marinade for too long and also cold. The broth wasn’t hot enough to warm them up. Tomato broth and noodle were good. The front door is locked bc the wind blows it open apparently and you have to press a doorbell to get let in. I rang the doorbell twice and awkwardly waved at a waitress inside before she came to the door and it felt pretty uncomfortable to be waiting outside a restaurant to be let in. Service from the waitress was otherwise good and the restaurant itself is beautiful!

For those who love Ramen and especially those who enjoy great value for money, Sansotei is definitely a great option. The menu has a good variety of Ramen, including vegan options, as well as some starters. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and they always come to the table to refill water and ask if everything is okay. The atmosphere is very pleasant, spacious and very clean. For those traveling with children, they have seat and highchairs. The restaurant is close to Eglinton station and several shops. It is definitely worth a visit.
