A Cozy Haven for Momo Lovers!
On a chilly, blustery day, I stumbled upon Momo Hut and Gardens, and it turned out to be the best decision I made! From the moment I walked in, I felt an inviting warmth—not just from the cozy ambiance but also from the genuinely friendly and helpful staff. They greeted me with smiles and made me feel instantly at home.
I ordered the Non-Veg Momo Platter, eager to try a variety of their offerings. When the platter arrived, I was immediately impressed. The presentation was simple yet appetizing, with beautifully crafted momos arranged neatly, accompanied by an array of vibrant dipping sauces. Each momo was a little pocket of joy—steamed to perfection, with a delicate, tender wrapper that encased a flavorful and juicy filling. The balance of spices was just right, with a subtle kick that made each bite even more enjoyable.
What truly elevated the experience were the sauces. The restaurant serves a trio of house-made dipping sauces that are simply fabulous. Each sauce brought something different to the table—a tangy, slightly spicy red chili sauce that packed a punch, a rich, garlicky option that complemented the momos beautifully, and a mild, savory sauce that added depth without overpowering the flavors. I found myself alternating between them, unable to pick a favorite!
As I enjoyed my meal, one of the staff members kindly reminded me that my order came with hot chicken broth—a detail I had overlooked but one that turned out to be an absolute lifesaver. The moment I took my first sip, I felt instantly warmed from the inside out. The broth was light yet full of deep, comforting flavors, the kind of soul-soothing warmth you crave on a cold day. This small yet thoughtful touch made all the difference, showing how much the restaurant cares about its guests.
Beyond the food, Momo Hut and Gardens has an undeniable charm. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, with a rustic yet modern décor that makes it a perfect spot to unwind. Whether you’re dining alone, catching up with friends, or even on a casual date, it’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and soak in the atmosphere. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive, always ready to help with recommendations or a warm conversation.
One of the things I truly appreciated was the freshness of the food. It was evident that everything was made with care, using quality ingredients. The momos had that handmade authenticity that sets them apart from the usual fast-food dumplings. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on both taste and experience, but Momo Hut and Gardens does it effortlessly.
By the time I finished my meal, I was not only full but genuinely happy and satisfied. This is the kind of restaurant that leaves a lasting impression—one you’ll find yourself recommending to friends and returning to time and again. If you love good food, warm hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere, Momo Hut and Gardens is a must-visit. I, for one, can’t wait to go back for another round of their incredible momos and that life-saving hot broth!

My partner and I have been regulars at Momo Hut and Gardens for the past 3 years. We love their yummy and reasonably priced food (their variety of meat and vegetarian momos and noodles being our favourite!), calm ambience, and warm customer service. Because of this, we approached them earlier this winter to ask if they would host our summer wedding’s dinner reception. To our delight, Dhondup happily agreed! I wanted to share this review to showcase Momo Hut and Gardens’ amazing hospitality and delicious foods.
Since the beginning of the planning process, Dhondup was easy to communicate with and made us feel right at home. Everything we had at our dinner reception is available as part of their regular menu (please see pics). On the day of, Dhondup and Tashi (the two owners of the restaurant) and their 3 staff worked tirelessly, were always listening to our needs, and eager to do what it takes to make our day special and run as smoothly as possible. This included: Arranging the tables to match our desired layout. Making sure there was a highchair for a baby, place for a stroller, and a table for diaper changing downstairs. Hooking us up with a microphone and speaker system to use for our speeches. Designing a soft meal specifically for my elderly dad which is not available on the regular menu. Accommodating diverse dietary restrictions including: celiac (gluten free), diary free, nut free, vegetarian, halal, and soft diet. Pushing out the food according to our schedule with no issues. Accommodating a family who had to leave earlier by prepacking their desserts so they wouldn’t miss it.
Other aspects of the meal that we really enjoyed being able to offer our guests included: Having a gluten free option for every part of the menu beyond just gluten free momos (appetizer, soup, momos, entrée, and dessert) Beautiful and fresh mixed meat or mixed vegetarian momos that still matched other special dietary restrictions (like gluten free/diary free/halal) A mountain of noodles as a shared plate at each table A unique and yummy chocolate momo dessert (yes, this is also available gluten free!) with ice cream that we have never seen anywhere else.
If you’re looking for family friendly Tibetan food with a homey ambience and caring staff, Momo Hut and Gardens serves this up in droves! I highly recommend visiting them for a meal. And if you’re looking to plan a group dinner or need catering for any event, don’t hesitate to chat with Dhondup and/or Tashi about it. We’re very glad we did and they made our wedding reception dinner so special. Thank you, Momo Hut...
Read moreThe first thing you notice is the prayer flags. In the bustle and bluster of the Danforth, it seems a tad out-of-place in its serenity, yet it absolutely calls out to you. And that exactly is what a dining experience at Momo Hut is like: different, and good for both the tummy and the soul.
Let's talk about the food first: Momos: It was the first time my wife and I tried momos and we liked it. Kinda like dumplings to us with a thicker "coating". We got the shrimp, beef and phing-tsey (spinach, feta, noodles) momos and really enjoyed all of them. The protein was plump, the fillings were stuffed, and the coating was tasty. Also, the side sauces were amazing. Pro top: mix a bit of the spicy black one with either the red or orange one to get just the right fiery and flavourful kick. Crispy Cauliflower: Tastily seasoned though would have wanted it a bit more crispy. Ting-Mo: Steamed buns with a turmeric flavour. If you love buns that are fluffy yet super dense, you'll like this. Also great to dunk this in the side sauces as their doughiness works well with the spice. Sweet Lhasa: Dessert momo. The apple/cinnamon stuffing was expectedly delicious, yet the homemade mango icecream was the standout surprise.
So that's the tummy part, but what about the food for the soul? Well, that's all about the people at Momo Hut. They are absolutely the nicest, most genuinely kind servers you'll meet. I don't know if they owned the place or not, but they sure act like people who take great pride in sharing their offering to the world. They were patient in answering this newbie's questions on Tibetan cuisine, had a twinkle in their eye when they recommended how to handle the side sauces, smiled with pride when we went for the more traditional dessert versus going for the fried banana, and topped off our meal with a cardamom tea which, I kid you not, is one of the best and most soothing teas I've ever had.
Hope you head over to Momo Hut and enjoy the food and the experience as...
