I went to this location last night with a few friends. Things started out great initially but went downhill pretty fast. Our server was great but my experience became nothing short of disgusting. The first issue was the washroom. I went to go wash my hands and their sink was completely flooded. You couldn't wash your hands because there wasn't enough space between the faucet and that dirty pool of water. I can't even imagine how many people came out of there with dirty hands after going to do their business. What a turn off! I mentioned it to my server and I'm hoping they resolved the issue. Of course it didn't stop there. When my food came, I was pretty excited and it tasted great until I found a hair baked into my waffle! It was so long that I actually have no idea where the hair ended! I mentioned this to the hostess and she didn't seem to care even after I pointed it out. I also told my server after and he said he'd make a new one. By then I was so turned off, the last thing I wanted was food from them so I said no. When we got the bill they expected me to pay full price. I told my server he needs to do something because I refuse to pay full price after that. He claimed they wore hair nets but then how did this massive piece of hair get baked into my waffle? His next comment was he didn't see the hair and so I told him "your hostess saw it when she cleared my food, so did everyone else at this table!". He then came back and had discounted only $3 and said I didn't have to pay for the ice cream. Are you kidding me? I obviously wasn't happy and I told him he needs to go over this with his manager. If you were planning on making a whole new waffle for me for free, why are you charging me at all for the one waffle your team made that had someone's hair in it. He went to go talk to his manager who apparently was too busy. Finally my server said "don't worry about it I just won't charge you". Uh, shouldn't have that been your first response? Rather than charging me full price, then discounting $3 and saving me the trouble of having to argue the bill with you twice? Although overall I felt our server was nice, I doubt I would ever come back here again after that experience. My entire table stopped eating once I...
Read moreIf you’re seeking a vibrant spot for indulgent desserts and good company, Caffé Demetre is worth a visit. I recently spent an evening here with friends, where we savored inventive sweets in a cozy setting. Though some areas show signs of age, the café’s warm ambiance and creative treats make it a memorable dessert destination. The Stormy Weather was a highlight, presenting a unique take on iced cappuccino. Blending iced coffee with honey vanilla ice cream and espresso, this drink struck the right balance—not too sweet or too bitter. A touch of syrup added just enough sweetness, making it an enjoyable and refreshing option. The Katy Berry is a strawberry lover’s dream. Served in a waffle cone, it combined strawberry blush ice cream, fresh strawberries, and white chocolate sauce for a decadent, beautifully presented sundae. Each bite was a delicious blend of fruity and creamy flavors that felt delightfully rich without being too heavy. For a lighter option, Get Yuzu To It offered a sparkling, citrusy break from the richer desserts. The yuzu-lemongrass lemonade was crisp and refreshing, providing a perfect palate cleanser with a pleasant zing. As a classic choice, the Cappuccino was reliable though not particularly memorable. Topped with cocoa powder and served with sugar packets, it’s a straightforward option if you’re craving a simpler drink. Service was decent, though a bit inconsistent; while water refills were frequent, our extra napkin request went unnoticed. The café’s washroom, decorated with hand-painted stripes, was clean but could use some maintenance like the exterior. Portion sizes, particularly for drinks, could be more generous considering the price. Despite these minor drawbacks, Caffé Demetre is a fun spot for dessert lovers. With its creative menu and inviting atmosphere, it’s an ideal place for a relaxed night out...
Read moreWe were greeted by one host right away and we were able to select our own seats.
We ordered the Blue My Mind Liège Waffle and Stormy Weather Iced Coffee. Iced coffee hit the spot with the espresso with ice cream and caramel. However, the waffle was questionable. The toppings itself were great, fresh, and decadent but the Liège waffle was undercooked. We asked our server if it was supposed to be made that way and he reassured us with confidence that it was supposed to be like that. To our understanding, after researching at home, the Liège waffle is supposed to be a combination of a Belgian waffle and brioche but ours today was chewy on the outside and raw, gummy, wet, and had cake-like batter on the inside.
Maybe it was a one-time mistake since it looked like our server was in training. We will eventually visit again and edit this review.
Edit on Jan 22, 2025: My friends and I visited this location. It’s disappointing because this location is the most convenient. The red velvet cake was extremely stale and the ice cream tasted like it had freezer burn. My friend’s water had something dark floating at the top. It’s unfortunate but I don’t think we will visit this location again. Our server was not very attentive even though we were the only customers at the time. We were seated on the upper level where he could not see us. He did not check up on us even once. I will be changing my previous rating from 3 stars to 1 as our visit today left us feeling...
