The text on the uniforms and language in the menu had me assuming that this place was Japanese but all the staff were speaking Korean. Katsu is still a staple dish in Korea, so I would say there’s not any sort of flag there. I ordered the Zenbu Katsu plate which is only states that it includes 1 piece of their 3 different pork katsus, 1 shrimp and 2 veggie (6) but instead I received 1 rosu, 2 pieces of hire, 2 pieces of cheese, 3 veggie and the menchi along with the shrimp (10). This was a LOT to say the least and such a serving size is definitely meant for sharing, writing this review on my way home I feel like I could pop. The food: Rosu - classic and well executed, delicious. Hire - this was probably my favorite. If I drop by again I’ll probably just order this. Cheese - solid, better than some other places I’ve been in Toronto Yam(?) - too heavy Zucchini - great Tofu - interesting, different, thankfully not bland Ebi - I found the kadaif wrapping to be cumbersome and the accompanying sauce to be heavy. If they intend to serve this much food for $40 going forward it’s definitely one of the best value meals you could get in midtown. The staff were attentive and fast to help out with...

For a premium katsu restaurant, the experience didn’t feel premium. I’ve been to South Korea, so I understand that the service style is very Korean—meaning you often need to flag down your server and ask for what you need. I’d be more understanding if gratuity wasn’t customary in Toronto, but that’s not the case. A bit more attentiveness and organization from the team could lead to some easy improvements that would significantly enhance the dining experience.
The staff clearly work hard, but as others have noted, the environment feels chaotic and overwhelming when they rush around. On top of that, the kitchen is located very close to the dining area, and the sound of dishes being washed and stacked is jarringly loud. I might expect that at a fast-food or casual eatery, but not in an establishment positioned as elevated.
Overall, the food was just okay—the loin was on the drier side—and the level of service, combined with a long wait time, detracted from the overall experience. One small gesture that could have helped: a staff member acknowledging, either before or during service, that we waited over 30 minutes...
Read moreThey have a small menu specializing in authentic japanese Katsu, using only 270 hr aged pork and house made panko. They strive to use fresh ingredients daily and you can tell each dish is made with love🫶🏼 🇯🇵
The presentation was beautiful and they had sauces to compliment each dish. I loved the way their Katsu sauce had a very tangy and light bbq taste to it. This was the freshest katsu i’ve ever had, I got the Zenbu Katsu which came of assortment of all their katsu. But favourites definitely have to be the Ebi and Cheese Katsu.
The Katsu salad was a perfect appetizer covered with a light tangy sauce and breaded pork cutlet. The Gidori Udon was good but just wish it had more flavour to it, the broth felt a little too clean for me. But the chicken was super yummy!
Not gonna lie, the MATCHA stole the show😩It was surprising so good, it was strong and very flavourful with a great price🍵
