The puffs are great and a new dessert in the area, I get some once in a while to share with family.
This comes with a big asterisk though.
The shop hugely depends on the person on shift at the time of purchase, and this would dictate the quality of the food and service! It has been ok for the most part, BUT on Sunday April 28, 2024 @ 9:45pm. The store wasn't closing and were still frying new puffs, but I came with my mom to purchase "30" puffs, 15 caramel and 15 cappuccino, as we often do. As soon as we entered the door, the tall girl behind the counter didn't look too happy that we entered, but we ordered and told her to please split the boxes with each having half caramel and half cappuccino. (though it would be 7 in one, and 8 in one, we are fine with that) A past employee has gladly done that for my mom numerous times, but this night the tall girl was absolutely not willing to do that, she stood and argued like she didn't understand what we were asking for. It's not hard to kindly split it for the customer, but she gave us a hard time for a good 10 mins, in the end she threw everything into the 2 boxes, split like we asked, but did a rough job with the sauces, and lots of attitude.
This place needs to train their employees on customer service, and to put the customer first at times. Obviously not when the customer is disrespecting the employee, but when customers request these simple desires it should be gladly fulfilled to help make the customers experience top tier. In this case that wouldn't even cost another box (2 boxes will be used anyways).
We have met some kind and thoughtful employees here, but some are missing needed training on customer service. This is coming from a restaurant owner, and many years of experience in restaurant the industry.
I will be back, but to be honest I'll be back in hopes of being served by a kind and helpful staff member who is willing to make...
Read moreA Rocky Start with a Glimmer of Hope: Mr. Puffs' Greasy Puffs Offset by Bueno Hot Chocolate Brilliance
Mr. Puffs, the much-anticipated dessert bar, stumbled on its opening day, leaving a rather greasy taste in both the literal and metaphorical sense. However, amidst the disappointments, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of the Bueno hot chocolate.
The namesake product, the "Puff," failed to live up to expectations, with excessively greasy fried dough balls that were both crispy and disappointingly oily. The staff's initial response, attributing the greasiness to the nature of frying, left much to be desired. A subsequent conversation with the manager resulted in a prompt refund and an attempt to rectify the situation with complimentary puffs, though the issue persisted.
However, one shining star in Mr. Puffs' lineup was the Bueno hot chocolate. This delightful concoction, made with the dipping chocolate, stood out as a beacon of excellence. Rich, velvety, and indulgent, the hot chocolate was a highlight that showcased the potential for greatness within the establishment.
Notably, Mr. Puffs accommodates lactose-sensitive patrons with a variety of alternative milk options. This thoughtful touch is commendable, offering a solution for those who may typically be excluded from enjoying such sweet delights.
While the Bueno hot chocolate and lactose-sensitive options provide a glimmer of hope for Mr. Puffs, the inconsistency in the execution of their signature product remains a significant concern. Until they can consistently deliver a less greasy and more enjoyable fried dough experience, it might be prudent to wait until they've had time to iron out the kinks before giving this dessert bar another try.
EDIT: After reviewing others comments at other MrPuff locations, its possible there is a product issue. Many reports of Oily or greasy product. Just something to consider before you check...
Read moreI wish I could say something nice about this place. If you want to try Puffs go to the Dixie and Dundas location; the staff there are fast, professional and know what amazing service looks like. STOCKYARDS location is a mess. They had a line up out the door and with 5 employees on hand nothing was getting done. They had 2 people on cash one girl on toppings and one guy making batter, they were still taking orders with no puffs ready and no puffs in the Fryer. The manager was in the back folding boxes ( I kid you not) watching the people complain and the line grow without doing anything. Finally when people started to complain he stepped out the back and jumped.on cash. The girl that was dressing the puffs then went to the back to refill the cream topping bottle. 2 people on cash one guy making dough. One girl getting toppings from the back and then the other girl mow on ice cream. No puff orders being Mae but the 2 people on cash just kept taking orders!! Make it make sense. I asked for a refund and was told he couldn't return my tip because the machine didn't allow it.. a mess. It's a new location which means often times it take a few days to get the hang of it.. but this place is completely unprepared and mismanaged....
