This is a good place for croissants and macarons. However, I would not touch anything that has fruit or vegetables in it, as they do not seem to wash them before using them in food prepping. A couple of years ago, we ordered a large Tendress Fruitée cake. While eating a slice, I saw a bug crawling down from one of the raspberries onto my plate. That is when I realized that the raspberries where not washed; I know as I have washed enough of them in my life to know how they subtly change. I contacted Nadège about the issue, and they ignored me. There is always this general attitude at Nadège that: "You should be honoured that I am deigning to allow you to pay me. I am doing you a favour by accepting money from you. Take what I give you and don't complain." The disdain they show their clients is disgusting and unacceptable. We are paying top dollar and should be shown respect. They are what they are because of the money they take from their clients, and they need to be grateful, not disdainful of them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Moreover, more recently a friend of mine asked to meet me there for breakfast. I went there not very excitedly, choosing a croissant and coffee (nothing with fruit and vegetables). First, the table and seats that were available had pigeon poo all over them, although I arrived just after opening, and they were not busy. They hadn't cleaned the place before the customers were expected. I had to clean it myself before my friend arrived. Moreover, the bathrooms were filthy and had not been cleaned for a while. The flush in the women’s washroom was not working. There was a family sitting not far from us who had a baby and a toddler. When the toddler accidently spilled the juice all over the table, the parents had to deal with the whole situation and clean everything by themselves. I felt very sorry for them, as they had come here and paid for an expensive breakfast to relax a little bit, but received such a bad service, making the whole experience stressful for them. If you charge people the kind of money that McDonald’s in Walmart does, then this kind of service can be justified. However, this is an expensive place, and this service is simply not acceptable. Contacted the store right away and the manager (Lauren) admitted the store messed up and to contact Uber support for a refund of the missing item. Contacted Uber support and the customer support manager (Mary) told me to contact Nadege about the missing item. I called Nadege and Jasmine took down all the details and said the manager will investigate and she would call me back. She even suggested maybe the driver stole it. I told her that Lauren admitted the store messed up and it was not the fault of the driver. I waited all day and Jasmine never called back so I called the store again the next day. This time the male manager answered the call and told me not to call the store again, there is nothing they could do for me and it would be best to contact their head office. I called the head office and spoke to the admin manager (Megan) who told me that it doesn't matter if Lauren admitted fault. That since I ordered through Uber Eats to take it up with them, they can't help me any further. Both Nadege and UberEats refused to accept fault, but had no issues charging me for the entire order of 4 individual cakes. They had me go around in circles, passing the responsibility from one to the other as I was trying to get the issue of my missing item resolved. I've been a long time customer of Nadege Nourian's Patisserie, since she opened her first location in Toronto. I am so very disappointed in how her staff have handled and treated me during this entire incident. As of now, the issue has been...
Read moreWhen I first stumbled upon Nadege on Queen West in 2010, I had no idea I was about to walk into a place that would become so much more than a pastry shop to me. Back then, it felt like a breath of fresh air—a modern, clean haven offering a dazzling variety of delicious creations. I quickly learned that the magic behind it all was Nadège Nourian, a fourth-generation French pastry chef from Lyon. Knowing her family's rich history made every bite feel like a connection to a long, beautiful tradition of craftsmanship.
Over the years, this place has become a constant in my life. It's where I go for the intricate layers of the Marie Antoinette cake, a true masterpiece of flavour and texture. The individual donut cakes are a sweet, delightful indulgence, and the canelés—my absolute must-have—are a perfect symphony of crispy, caramelized shell and soft, custardy center. They are the simple, elegant pastries I always return to, a little taste of perfection every time.
But Nadege is more than just pastries. It’s a wonderful spot for a light breakfast, a quick snack, or a delicious small sandwich. It has been a quiet witness to so many moments, both big and small, in my life. Every visit feels like coming home, and with each canelé, I'm reminded of the simple joy of discovering something truly special. It’s a place that not only satisfies my cravings but also touches my heart with its unwavering commitment to beauty...
