Just so glad that they moved from their old location in King St. West to the Village by the Grange as this location is so much closer to me.
Ordered three of my favorites - Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, Singkong Lumer and they all tasted good and the same as when I ordered them in their old place.
The Indonesian fried rice has an earthy and smokey flavour. And although NaiNai's version has boiled egg instead of the fried egg, chicken instead of the seafood I'm accustomed to, you can still taste the distinct and intense combination of sweet and savoury flavour that I like in a fried rice.
The Mie Goreng Fried Noodles with a sticky sweet savoury sauce in a yellow noodles is very satisfying and filling.
For dessert you got to try the Singkong Lumer if you haven't tried it yet. This Cassava Pudding is like a heavenly taste in your mouth as the sweet and salty combination is so surreal!
I'm not saying that NaiNai's food are mind-blowing good, but for the price I paid - portion sizes are fair, food is tasty and well prepared. I also love the service in this place, it's family run/owned and all the staff are friendly.
I would also say that this place is comparable to the best authentic places in Scarborough I've tried that are offering Indonesian/Malay/Singaporean food like One2Snacks, Gourmet Malaysia, Satay Sate. And the best part, I don't have to travel that far to satisfy my cravings.
Love this place, highly recommended and will definitely...
Read moreSEDAPPPPPPPP! as a malaysian far away from home, this place hits all the flavour notes that I miss from home. I am so glad that NaiNai has been added to this lovely neighbourhood. If you're looking for an affordable, quick, and delicious meal for lunch, or dinner, be sure to hit up NaiNai Indonesian Food.
They have a diverse menu from different rice dishes, to different variations of the ever popular instant noodle, IndoMie, as well as fantastic satay and rendang. A great dish is one that you can taste the love, affection, and respect that the chef has for the ingredients and the dish and YOU CAN TELL that the wonderful people in the kitchen have it for each and every dish.
Service is quick - my friend and I visited during the dinner rush period, and even though there was a line, we got our meals in less than 15 minutes. We had the nasi goreng (fried rice) and the indomie satay (chicken skewers) and when I tell you, I SQUEALED, when I tasted the satay, it's like when Anton Ego, in Ratatouille, was immediately transported to his childhood home, where he's eating his mom's ratatouille - the satay reminded me of the satay i get back in south east asia.
I will have no choice but to return to try out more dishes and debunk if they actually just have a portal to Indonesia in their kitchen,...
Read moreWe went to NaiNai on a weekend evening time, and it wasn’t too busy, but there were a few food delivery people that came to get takeouts. It is a take-out only spot, which is unfortunate as we would love to dine-in, however, the food is worth going.
We got a few dishes to share as our Indonesian friend said it is one of the best spots for Indonesian food in the city. We got the Bakso Sapi ($16), a delicious soup and vermicelli dish. They are more known for their beef balls compared to their fish balls according to the owner. We loved the flavour of the soup and the beef balls are soft. We also got Mie Goreng with chicken ($16 + $4 for protein). We really enjoyed the stir fry noodles and it was quite big in portion. We had to try their famous Beef Rendang Sapi ($18). We had this dish a few times before at different restaurants, but their rendang is the best we have tried so far. We recommend you trying this dish out if you can! Lastly, one of our friends had the Pangsit Tahu Bakso ($16), they said it was flavourful and tasty.
The staff here are incredibly kind and were helpful in explaining the different dishes. They recommended us some items, which made the decision process a lot easier. If you want delicious Indonesian food in the city, you have to...
