They got off to a roaring start when the waitress gave us a nasty look for asking a simple question about if they had Thai iced tea. Anyways they turned it around and the service ended up being great. The food is definitely not five stars but it is a solid four out of five. Definitely not the best Thai food I’ve had in Toronto. The time Yum soup was very tasty but there was tons of extremely hard, non-hydrated lemongrass pieces which were not edible. It made it difficult to eat around because that was literally the main ingredient. Generally lemon grass is soft once it’s cooked long enough. or at least the hard bits, once the flavour infused, are removed either in a bundle or a sachet from the broth. Anyway the overall flavour was about 3.5. The red curry paste dry rub chicken was also very mediocre. The beans under cooked and nothing special about the dish. However the massaman curry was phenomenal in flavour. 4.5 stars… Although it was identified as the chefs top choice of all the menu items, the beans were terribly under cooked and some were actually hard and crunchy rather than just having an al dente bite to them. And again, rockhard pieces of lemon grass throughout. Other than that and the unnecessary amount of oil added the flavour was amazing. So it loses half a star and execution. The last dish that we tried was the pad gra prao with beef. I wasn’t expecting plain ground beef with seasoning added an egg on top… The presentation was just uninspired and the flavours were mediocre as well. This restaurant with at Max get a 3.5 as an average rating but I guess because of the massaman curry I’m giving at four.

I asked them at first, because I didn’t see Thai milk, but the waiter told me...they don’t have Thai milk for the time being...hummmm Thai food does not have Thai milk, which is really a bit embarrassing😮 I ordered a glass of mango. The mango flavor is unexpectedly rich! Then ā—ā— Pad GraPrao! It's the pork rice! ! Very delicious! ! The wife was unexpected! Very delicious! ! ! That's it! Very invincible! You can also choose the spiciness! I chose slightly spicy, but after eating 4 or 5 bites, the spicy is still a bit stamina. The difference between Pad See Ew and Pad Thai is that Ew is fried wide noodles, so wide and wide, woc! ! ! This is absolutely amazing. Everyone has eaten thin ones, and must never have eaten wide ones! It's really tasty! Even the vegetables are very fragrant! It's literally, the prawns are also very fresh and chewy! I ordered the pork and crab meat spring rolls as an appetizer, which was unexpectedly not as ordinary as it sounds. After dipping it in the sauce, it tasted invincible and delicious! !

if i could give a 0 i would, i can't even begin to explain how upset and absolutely disgusted i am with the training of the staff. i have been going to khao san road since it first opened in Toronto at Peter and Adelaide. i have always raved and recommended them to all friends and family. when they split and PAI was opened i proceeded to go there.

a friend insisted that Nana is cozier and i should try it out. we came here last month and i had a wonderful meal - definitely wanted to return.

last night i returned with another friend excited to have a great meal. i ordered pad gra pao and pad thai - requesting for no bean sprouts and NO PEANUTS - SINCE IT'S AN ALLERGY. now some can argue that someone with a severe allergy should take caution when eating at a thai restaurant. fortunately for me it isn't and again i have been eating at khao san and PAI since they opened in Toronto - the owners would definitely recognize me and say hi. they have ALWAYS taken allergies seriously. the server immediately argued that no moderations could be made, to which i respond they do. since i have already had a meal here previously and they definitely do take allergies into consideration. the very fact that i had to repeat myself 2x stating that it's an ALLERGY NOT A PREFERENCE already had me irritated. she said okay and put in our order.

our food came and i started eating - 3 minutes in my friend told me to stop as she felt there were peanuts in the pad thai. my throat starting itching and we were very nervous. that same server came to check on us TWICE which i felt was very old ... we decided i wouldn't eat the pad thai since we were unsure. finally my friend asked the same server to take it to the kitchen to check. by now my throat definitely felt tight and was slowly closing. she disappeared and 10 minutes later came very concerned ... she started apologizing. her excuse - SHE FORGOT TO PUT IN PEANUT ALLERGIC AND THE KITCHEN HAD MADE THE PAD THAI WITH A SMALLER PORTION OF PEANUTS. how stupid could you be? i really don't know how that's a valid excuse when your patron informs you that it's an ALLERGY.

i am still shocked - do not hire employees and NOT TRAIN THEM TO BE CONSIDERATE AND MINDFUL OF YOUR PATRONS FOOD ALLERGIES. she should not be on the floor. i made sure she knew how serious this was - she was VERY lucky i wasn't on the floor dying from my throat closed off preventing me from breathing. needless to say i got up and left. i will not be returning to Nana or khao san. i definitely expect more especially when i have NEVER EVER had an issue all my past visits. i am not writing this because i want to bash them but simply for other people that have the same concerns - i just don't have the confidence in...

This was a really super solid place for some street-style Thai food. The atmosphere resembles the aesthetic you would find if you flew to Thailand yourself. The tables are aimed to maximize the people they can serve in the tall and narrow restaurant. The chairs are plastic four-leg stools with no back so prepare to work on that posture. When you walk in, you feel that you have been transported to the hot and lively streets of Phuket.

We were here as part of a bachelorette party and they seated us very snugly at two tables for the 8 of us. We all just got to know each other a little better.

The menu offers a wide variety so you will definitely find something that you will like. We shared a plate of king oyster mushroom salad and the grilled pork skewers. Both were an excellent choice to start the meal. The oyster salad mushroom was meaty, grilled nicely, and wasn’t overcooked that the oyster mushrooms released all their water onto the plate.

I ordered the pad thai bo lan with chicken as I have never tried the vintage pad thai recipe. No better time than now to give it a try. All the different ingredients mixed so well together. The rice noodles and egg gave it a solid foundation to soak up the yummy tamarind fish sauce mixture and the chilli gave a great blast of heat. It left me very full and satisfied.

I do want to mention that the food does come out of the kitchen relatively fast as it should for street-style food.

The service was satisfactory and friendly. if you want to come on a F, SA, or SU then be prepared to wait if you don’t have...
