This Papa John’s recently opened up in an area with other pizza chain restaurants such as Pizza Pizza and Pizza Hut.
I mainly order the 4 topping large pizza and the toppings are super flavourful and fresh. I think Papa John’s strongest positive is their ingredients. Their signature garlic dipping sauce is the icing on the cake.
Most of Papa John’s sides are what you would typically expect from a pizza chain. But, Papa John’s has an unique array of sides including my personal favourite, their garlic knots. It’s nice to have that uniqueness compliment their traditional pizzas.
The customer service for this location has been decent. I have no issues so far with the employees or getting my orders wrong.
Papa John’s isn’t the best all-around pizza place just yet. The ingredients are amazing; but, I think the overall taste of the pizza and crust isn’t as good as the competition. Also, Papa John’s does lack in the specials department. Currently, no specials come with drinks and you get more value for your buck at other places. Overall, I am pretty happy with this location and I look forward to trying more items on the menu.
Below is some nerdy talk about loyalty programs.
Papa John’s loyalty program compared to the competition:
Points Based: Dominos: 6 orders of at least $ 10 (60 total) for a two topping medium pizza Pizza Hut: 5 orders of at least $ 10.99 (55 total) for a two topping medium pizza
Pros of above model: -Very easy to attain due to low price requirement. -Very good reward value (basically $15 or whatever the value of a medium pizza is).
Cons of above model: -You can ONLY get the specific 2 topping medium pizza reward…any other pizzas don’t count for the reward. -The orders have to be separate (not made in the same day) -Large orders aren’t rewarded, a $10.99 order and a $30 order are worth the same points value.
Refund based: The refund is in the form of points that you can spend on any item.
Pizza Pizza: 5% refund on all orders. Papa Johns: 13.3% refund on all orders.
Pros: -Refund can be used on any order whatsoever. -Refund is based on subtotal so it scales.
Cons: -Less total value compared to reward model. Reward model has at least a 16% refund. -Points can be ONLY be redeemed at certain times. Pizza Pizza you have to visit 5 times. Papa Johns you need to spend at least $75.
QUICK NOTE: Pickup special on window is outdated, the large 4 topping...
Read moreLast Dec 14, 2022, I was expecting a guest. I ordered their Special Pizza and Chicken combo (8 piece Honey Chipotle Wings) via their mobile app for delivery. An email notification was received at 6:40pm. On our previous orders using their app, we always have our orders picked-up. Since, I was in a hurry to order, I did not noticed that I have my order entered as picked-up. Eventually, I received a notification in my phone stating that my order was already in the oven. Around 7:30pm, I checked on the mobile app and it showed that my order was picked-up! At 8:09 pm, I called their number to follow-up. To my dismay, I was told that there was no such order made! I insisted that I received an email notification that my order went through. My guest heard our conversation & I was so embarrassed.
When my guest left, I checked my credit card and the email order notification. I was charged! I called them back and was told that my order was ready 15minutes after my order went through their system. I told them that I called earlier and was told that my order number does not exist!
Apparently, the staff whom I spoke with initially just checked my order under the delivery option. I said he would've checked on the pick-up since I won't be insisting if there's none and if I was not charged instead of telling me that there's no such order number!
They kept on insisting that it was me who made the mistake. I told them that, that was not the point. I was told that there was no order! Aside from that, if my order was ready 15 minutes after they received it, why did they not call me? I know they maybe busy but if the order is sitting there for more than an hour, they should've at least called to remind. Who likes to eat a cold pizza? They tried to offer to deliver the order but was told that they can't do it. These people will make you culpable instead of pacifying...
Read moreI have been ordering from here once to twice a month for my family on nights we don’t have time to cook as it is conveniently located. We alway order our pizza the same way with the topping on top of the cheese and we’ll done. Today, I call in my order like any other time and ask for it this way, well done and toppings on top of the cheese. I am then advised that they “can’t” do this. Can’t or won’t’? Forget the fact that they have been doing it for months but how do you tell a customer cannot put the cheese on before the meat topping. Where is the sense? Where is the reasoning behind why they “can’t”? Does it cost them more money? Are the employees unable to follow simple instructions? I have NEVER experienced a food establishment that would not provide a simple customer request. It’s not like it is an abnormal one at that. I have never had this issue with any other pizza company or any other Papa Johns location. I guess Morningside and Finch just want to get rid of consistent customers. If I can’t order my food the way I enjoy it why would I pay for it?
To make matters worse when I explained to the worker I always order like this, very regularly she only kept on repeating she can’t put the topping on top. I then ask to speak with a manager. I was put on hold. The same worker then came back on and asked “is there anything else I would like to add to the order?” I replied I’m waiting for a manager and repeated my issue. Her response was that I hadn’t ordered from there since July. I was dumbfounded. So I guess in a household of 6 we only order from one phone number. At that point I just cancelled my order. I find this extremely unacceptable.
If you’re a picky eater I don’t recommend you eat here. Maybe next time they won’t ( I mean can’t) be able to put pepperoni on...
