Extremely Disappointed with My Experience – A MAJOR LETDOWN on MY DAUGHTER’s FIRST BIRTHDAY!
I’m writing this with a very heavy heart. We have always trusted Petit for our special occasions and have ordered all our cakes from them in the past. So naturally, we placed our order with them for our daughter’s first birthday, expecting nothing less than perfection.
Unfortunately, this time was an absolute disaster.
When we opened the cake at the party — in front of all our guests — we were shocked to see that our daughter’s name was written incorrectly. Her name is Nyra, but the cake said “Nyro is one”. This may seem like a small error to some, but for us, it was devastating. THIS WAS NOT JUST ANY EVENT — IT WAS OUR DAUGHTER’S FIRST BIRTHDAY, A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME CELEBRATION. THE CAKE IS A CENTRAL ELEMENT OF ANY BIRTHDAY PARTY, AND HAVING HER NAME SPELLED WRONG WAS EXTREMELY UPSETTING. IT COMPLETELY RUINED A MOMENT WE HAD LOOKED FORWARD TO FOR MONTHS.
To make matters worse, we hadn’t opened or checked the cake before the event because it was carefully and securely packed — as always. We trusted Petit, so we didn’t expect something like this at all.
I WAS IN TEARS. THAT MOMENT — WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN JOYFUL AND FULL OF LOVE — TURNED INTO AN EMOTIONAL MESS. A CORE MEMORY FOR LIFE HAS BEEN TAINTED BY CARELESSNESS. I CANNOT REVERSE THIS EVER, A MEMORY FOR LIFE HAS BEEN RUINED & IM STILL IN TEARS.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL MATTERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU’RE PART OF SOMEONE’S MOST PRECIOUS CELEBRATIONS. THIS EXPERIENCE HAS LEFT ME HEARTBROKEN, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever feel confident ordering from here again!
3/7/25!
I appreciate you acknowledging the mix-up with the cake and willingness to help — Over the past month, we had a few unexpected things come up including travel and illness, and we’ve just settled back in.
Our photographer, who was also travelling earlier, has kindly offered to do a re-shoot for us now because of the concern we had about the cake text in our main birthday photos — especially because it was our daughter’s FIRST birthday, and the name “Nyro” instead of “Nyra” is coming through very visibly in all the pictures from the cake-cutting moment. AND IT HONESTLY BREAKS MY HEART EVERY TIME I LOOK AT THEM — BECAUSE IT’S SUCH A PRECIOUS & CORE MEMORY TAINTED FOR LIFE.
I am hoping and I’d really appreciate it if you could help us recreate a similar (but smaller) version of the original cake — JUST FOR THE PHOTOS & FOR THE SAKE OF THE RESHOOT— with the correct name this time. The photographer offered to do another shoot just with family & he will add these new pictures & curate the album & videos for us. It doesn’t have to be big or elaborate, just visually matching the original design so we can update the pictures with the right memory.
Would you be able to do this for us, ideally as a goodwill gesture? We genuinely loved your cake otherwise and I would be so grateful to be able to preserve that special day in the way it was meant to be.
JUST TO SHARE, I’VE BEEN A CUSTOMER SINCE PETIT DELIGHTS STARTED. IN FACT, THIS VERY BABY — WE ORDERED A CAKE FROM YOU FOR MY BABY SHOWER WHEN SHE WAS STILL INSIDE ME, AND THEN AGAIN WHEN SHE WAS BORN, AND ONCE MORE FOR HER FIRST BIRTHDAY. ALL OUR MILESTONES — BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, CELEBRATIONS — HAVE BEEN MARKED WITH CAKES FROM YOUR STORE. THAT’S WHY THIS PARTICULAR MISTAKE HURTS. I HOPE, GIVEN OUR HISTORY AS A LONGTIME CUSTOMER, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CAN EXTEND AS A GOODWILL GESTURE.
Thank you again for reaching out and I am hoping you can get this arranged for us.
Awaiting a positive...
Read moreThe cafe is small, only with a handful of seats and tables. The desserts here are really good. Tasty, delicious, sweet.
My friend ordered the Nutella Brownie and the Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake Cup. I ordered the Lotus Milkshake, the Lotus Cake Slice, and the Custard Fruits Crepe with Whipped Cream.
Of course the desserts here aren't cheap. They're on the expensive side. My friend said that the Nutella Brownie was heavy, but really good. He tried a bit of his cheesecake cup and said it was so tasty and that he was going to save it for later. My Lotus cake slice was real good too. The cake was moist yet dense at the same time. The cream layers were cream cheese. It tasted almost like a gingerbread cookie.
The fruit crepe was so damn good. The fruits were lined up to look pretty, aesthetically pleasing to look at. There were banana and strawberry slices, blueberries, and green grape slices. There was a layer of custard underneath the fruit. The crepe was soft and fluffy, and maybe there was something inside the crepe itself. The crepe came with a small container of maple syrup and 2 pumps of soft, lightly sweet whipped cream on the side. Mixing all of that together and you get a sweet delicious harmony inside of your mouth, partying away.
The Lotus milkshake wasn't too sweet. There was a Lotus Oreo like cookie floating on top of the milkshake.
I paid about $28 for my three items. You can pay by credit card here. I would like to come back here again to try their bubble tea and their cookies and other desserts. All their desserts looks really good. There were cupcakes, eclairs, macarons, full sized cakes and cheesecakes, cake and cheesecake slices, cheesecake in cups, cakes in cups, cookies, brownies, and a full other menu up on their walls. Was pretty busy around 3 pm on a Saturday. Lots of people inside, a almost...
Read moreThis is a lovely establishment but this time around I've been getting tired of the customer service that I get when I get there. I'm tired of the blatant ignoring that I get when I stand in front of the counter. Today I had three people in front of me and I was number four. A lady came in after me and proceeded down the glass, looking for what she wants to order. Explain to me why all four people were served before me including the lady who was off to the right not in the line yet. There were 3 people behind the counter. Not one wanted to talk to me. Then when one decided to give to me the look of "oh you're standing there." Perhaps she thought I would just walk away by now. It is hard to miss me considering I am tall. Then the lady finally decides to talk to me and had the audacity to say to me. "Oh this is the cake. Please make sure you keep it on a flat surface." Why would I not keep A CAKE on a flat surface? Why is she talking to me in the most condescending manner as if I don't know what a cake should be placed on top of? I am not blind to the fact that the clientele of the establishment is brown-skinned and I've been trying to not play this card for a while but this seems to be blatant micro aggressions towards me because I am black. I feel uncomfortable and uninvited when I walk in there. I go there because my family likes the desserts and I love to support a small business but my goodness! Change the way you speak to customers and treat EVERYONE with respect. I'm paying big money to enjoy your desserts, don't treat me like a second class citizen after you take my money. Fix up...
