My recent visit to Petit Potato restaurant in North York was a delightful experience that exceeded my expectations. It was a Saturday night, and when we arrived around 11 PM, the place was buzzing with activity. It was packed with customers, which was a testament to its popularity.
Despite the bustling crowd, we were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the staff. We were promptly seated and attended to by a friendly server. The service was fast and efficient, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. It's always a relief when a busy restaurant manages to maintain excellent service standards.
Now, let's talk about the food. We decided to explore a range of items from their menu, and we were not disappointed. The condensed milk toast was a nostalgic delight that took me back to childhood breakfasts. The perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess made each bite a little slice of heaven.
Next up was the hazelnut chocolate toast, which was a decadent treat for chocolate lovers. The rich, velvety chocolate spread generously on a thick slice of toast was pure indulgence. It was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked.
We also couldn't resist trying the mango sago, a refreshing and tropical dessert. The combination of fresh mango chunks, chewy sago pearls, and a creamy coconut base was a burst of flavors that transported us to a beachside paradise.
But the real showstopper was the really large ice cream toast. It was an absolute marvel to behold! A tower of golden toast topped with generous scoops of different ice cream flavors, drizzled with syrups and sprinkled with colorful toppings. It was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. The crispiness of the toast paired perfectly with the creamy, cold ice cream, creating a delightful contrast of textures.
The quality of the food at Petit Potato was outstanding. Each dish was prepared with precision and care, resulting in flavors that were perfectly balanced. The attention to detail was evident in both the taste and the presentation.
Overall, our experience at Petit Potato was fantastic. From the buzzing atmosphere to the efficient service and, of course, the mouthwatering food, every aspect of our visit was top-notch. The fact that the restaurant was packed even at such a late hour is a testament to its popularity and quality.
I can confidently say that Petit Potato has won us over, and we will definitely be returning to indulge in their delectable offerings. Whether you're looking for a quick snack or a satisfying dessert, Petit Potato is a must-visit...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this restaurant since the English name was “Sugar” back in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. I became hooked on their “five colour rice balls”, herbal teas, traditional Chinese desserts, and soups. As they perfected their migration into a truly classy Asian Fusion, I became a regular and big fan of their Omurice, Teppan Rice/Pastas, Taiwanese classics like Popcorn chicken & red sausages, their fruit teas, and then I discovered their western desserts like Soufflés and Mille cakes. They still continue to surprise me when I come with visitors and I’m reminded there’s still more of the menu to discover.
Most recently, I was prompted to write this review because I was there for a weekday birthday lunch (Lunch Special is $16.49 for drink, salad, edamame, dessert, and main dish that rotates between 2 menus). In the summer, they had a waiter that refused substitutions (even to change drinks to cheaper options) or allow you to take home your leftover drink BECAUSE it was the lunch special. On my previous visit for my birthday, my waiter quietly changed my husband and MIL’s drinks to the simple hot green teas they wanted, brought a takeout cup for my daughter, and was very attentive though I was distracted by the family circus since my husband’s side can be more particular about everything.
Yesterday, I went with just my Stepmom and encountered Allen again. Both of us were blown away when he saw how much we enjoyed our meals and offered us extra dessert before even realizing it was a birthday lunch. The service was so exceptional that I wanted to tip more than the max 18% that the debit suggested.
Petit Potato has been a favourite for a long time because of the food, but if they keep up the top notch service we were given, they’re only going to get busier (and then PLEASE open one in the West end of the GTA (like...
Read morePetit potato was a great visit! Overall I liked the experience and I'm glad more stores like Petit potato and sugar marmalade exist ! They're great places to stop by and eat or just have a snack or dessert !
The atmosphere, presentation and aesthetic of Petit Potato was top tier. It was spacious enough to function without feeling cramped or too small like other stores. It's size was respectable and eating here left you with an enjoyable feeling the whole time.
The prices of the food items we're decent. Not that cheap but def not expensive. The prices can pile up if you order too many items. Petit potato has a respectable menu for entrees and the food is delicious. My girlfriend got the duck breast with rice on a hot place and I ordered the omurice with steak. Both were delicious and I do recommend the duck breast for sure !
Petit potato is , however, mainly a dessert place. You can tell that they really specialize on desserts and their menu reflects this. They have a huge selection and you really wouldn't be too disappointed in their selection.
The main reason why I can't give it a 5/5 is because comparing it to other dessert placed like sugar marmalade their desserts were just okay. The mango pancakes fail to compete against sugar marmalades and their signature dessert , the tower of ice cream and toast, although impressive was mainly toast. Their creme flan and milk pudding were both good but not impressive and it makes you wonder if the price you paid for these were worth what you got.
Overall a good place to go, you can't go wrong. But you can also do a little bit better of dessert is what you're looking for. Def a great place at the end...
