Sushi Legend has consistently impressed us with its variety of offerings, remarkable quality, and exceptional service. It's no wonder this spot has become a go-to for our Japanese AYCE cravings. As soon as we arrived, we received a tablet PC for easy ordering. The interactive menu sent our choices straight to the kitchen. While the touch screen sometimes missed our taps, the attentive staff were quick to assist. The drink refills, included in the AYCE, required a separate request but were effortlessly accommodated. Our highlights included: Sashimi: Fresh and succulent, especially salmon and, a weekend special, scallops. Cubed Beef Steak with Garlic: My personal standout, the beef was juicy and cooked to a perfect medium. Desserts: A great array of options. I liked the deep-fried banana, deep-fried milk, and lychee yogurt. I would skip the overly eggy creme brûlée and the bitter glass jelly next time. The strength of Sushi Legend lies in the sheer range of dishes and their overall quality. The staff, always behind the scene, did a great job clearing empty plates and keeping the service flowing, despite running out of space on our table due to the large quantity of our orders. This place was not flawless. For example, certain plastic plates were old and felt tacky; drink refills needed a manual request; the men’s room was small; some orders were mixed up; and the restaurant’s layout maximized seating over ambiance. However, these minor issues did not detract from our enjoyment of the feast before our eyes. Overall, Sushi Legend is a sanctuary for Japanese AYCE enthusiasts. It's where variety, taste, and service converge to craft a fulfilling experience that's both reasonably priced and undeniably satisfying. It's a place I recommend for a hearty, flavour-packed gathering with friends, and I'm already anticipating...
Read moreDecent AYCE but AVOID THE SUSHI LEGEND ROLL AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Everything else is standard fare but continue reading if you’re interested to know more about the worst roll on earth.
So you might be wondering “why give a place with a roll that more biohazard than food item a 4/5?” Well, you can always not order it. I just want to save people the pain of ordering it and then trying to get rid of it like a Mr. Bean sketch.
Anyway, the roll consists of tempura shrimp, mango and “cheese”. It is then battered, deep fried and topped with flambé-ed salmon and what I assume to be teriyaki sauce and aonori.
You heard right. Tempura shrimp, mango and some kind of cheese product. Definitely wasn’t of the whiz varietal but it probably came from an individually packaged square slice. Now there might be worse combinations but batter fried seafood, tropical fruit and kraft singles is just plain mean. Not to mention all that extra rice and batter just meant more roll to hide in your cheek as you carried it to the bathroom to spit out. The salmon can be salvaged if it doesn’t touch the mango juice/cheese run off but don’t even attempt to eat it if it does...

As I type this I can’t help but feel like this was either a creation from one of the owners or a disgruntled “menu development” employee. Not only is this supposed to be a flagship roll but it’s also super expensive (shrimp, mango, salmon) and incredibly time consuming to make (make tempura shrimp, roll the roll, deep fry the roll, flambé salmon). The person who crammed this on the menu either had the ability to push this item past quality control or wanted Sushi Legend Inc. to lose money with a high cost product with negative return. Either way I suppose it’s kinda admirable.
But it’s still the worst...
Read moreIt’s been a while since I’ve been to Sushi Legend for AYCE. I remember the last time, we were a group of eight but only given one iPad to order, which made the process slow and tedious. We tried to make it easier by requesting a second iPad, pretending we were two separate tables of four. In theory, this should have worked, as the staff said orders would be served according to the iPad they were placed from. In reality, though, everything ended up coming to one side of the table, and it turned into chaos.
Fast forward to today, where once again, we were a group of eight. I was happy to see they’ve switched to a QR code ordering system, so everyone could view the menu and order from their own phones. While the food still ended up being served all to one side and piled onto shared plates (so there was a lot of passing dishes around), the overall process felt smoother this time. Service was also a noticeable improvement. One particular server went above and beyond. She was friendly, made light conversation, was quick to clear empty plates, and even refilled our sodas without us asking.
It also looks like they’ve renovated and expanded the dining area. I remember it feeling cramped before, but today, the seating was comfortable and spacious. The updated decor also gave a nice ambiance to the place. Love the fish lights!
As for the food, the fish quality isn’t my favorite compared to other spots and I’ve definitely had better, but it was decent. I do wish their spicy mayo had more of a kick. On the plus side, all the beef dishes were really well done, and I enjoyed their dessert options. However, the green tea ice cream didn’t taste like green tea at all; it was just sweet.
Parking is in a free lot, but it’s very busy and can be a challenge to...
