On their IG you can see multiple videos of food influencers saying the place is a "must try" INFLUENCERS LIE! I decided to go try it out for my birthday with my 12+ guests. Upon arrival I was turned off when I tried to open the door and it was stuck, I walked in the door and it was not inviting at all, there was stuff just in the front foyer looking like storage & messy, but whatever I still proceeded inside. The place is smaller than it appeared to be online and the furniture looked like used old furniture. We got told where our table was I went to sit down at the head of the table and to add to my already iffy experience so far, I sat in the chair and the chair handle broke and the chair started to wobble. I felt unsafe sitting in it. My friend alerted the waitress to what happened, at first she tried to reattach the handle, then after it wouldn't go back in the slat she did provide me with another chair...but all she did was place the broken one at another table. As my guests started to arrive, no staff came and said anything to us, my friend had to go get the waitress herself to find out how things work there, as we were looking for menus and were not aware that it was an online menu, nothing at the table was there to tell us this. The waitress came to the table, didn't introduce herself or say anything, just put water carafes at the table, but did not provide any drinking glasses, were we to drink from the carafe? I thought she maybe would come back with the glasses shortly so I said nothing but she just went and stood behind the bar doing absolutely nothing. Whatever, I talked to my friend about how things were going so far, but we were there and we were just going to make the best of it, so we proceeded to order some appetizers and drinks, which we were told would take 45 minutes just for appetizers, we didn't even order mains yet, imagine the time that would have taken. They make the excuse that food is prepared fresh to order but I have been to many small business restaurants and never had to wait that long for food especially apps and their food still came out hot and fresh. Maybe don't make excuses and get more staff to accommodate your guests! We wanted to order samosas but were told they don't have that tonight, I went to order a bottle of chardonnay and they didn't have that either. As we were waiting, my friend went to the bathroom only to find out there is no running water! She let the staff know about it and was told they need to turn it on?? what establishment has to turn on their water for their guests to use the bathroom. She waited for staff to "turn on" the water which didn't happen. I had enough, I was over it! Completely turned off. My guests saw the disgust on my face and asked me what I wanted to do, I immediately said I wish to leave ASAP! I told my friend to cancel everything we ordered and let's go. I told her to only pay for the, I believe 2 drinks that made it to our table and let's go. Honestly the only good thing about the place was the DJ..he did a good job on the music! I am not sure what occurred when I went outside but next thing I know my friend was in the parking lot on one of the waitresses cell phone talking to the owner, expressing how unsatisfied we were. Per the owner the bathroom having no water was beyond her control. I myself got on the phone with her and she just kept telling me that she doesn't understand why we are not satisfied, and to top it all off she hung up on me! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE AT THIS PLACE! I am not the type of person to take my precious time to sit down and write reviews but this could not be ignored! This place is a 0 stars! absolutely horrible! Do better! DO NOT TRUST FOOD INFLUENCERS! They are obviously paid to lie to the public about places to make them seem great. Shame on all of you. THIS PLACE IS NOT A "MUST TRY" and they definitely need to go back to the drawing board and learn how to run a restaurant, especially for the prices they charge, the aesthetics/service/staff should have been no less...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at Ruumours Resto Lounge today, and it was an experience to remember! Despite not being of African descent, we were warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Booking a reservation online was a breeze with plenty of availability. To ensure everything was set, I called the restaurant and spoke with a very pleasant gentleman who confirmed our reservation. Upon arrival, the restaurant wasn't too busy, allowing us to appreciate its beautiful aesthetic right away. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server, Sag. She was warm, pleasant, and incredibly patient with us as we navigated the menu, being first-timers to Nigerian cuisine.
We started with the coconut shrimp, which were perfectly battered and crispy, with a delightful shrimp-to-coconut ratio, complemented by a sweet chili sauce. For the main course, we sought Sag’s guidance to choose an Afro stew and decided on the Egusi soup with turkey, accompanied by pounded yam. Though it looked complex, the first bite revealed a heartwarming dish reminiscent of a home-cooked meal. It’s a must-try if you haven’t experienced it before.
To finish off our night, we indulged in puff puffs drizzled with caramel sauce, reminiscent of Jamaican dumplings with a hint of sweetness—absolutely delicious. As we wrapped up our meal, another employee came over to inquire about our experience. We gladly shared our positive feedback and received recommendations for future visits.
Thank you, Ruumours, for your exceptional hospitality. We eagerly look forward to our next visit and seeing what the future holds for your wonderful...
Read moreVisiting from NYC and found what I thought to be a gem only to be very disappointed from entry to exit. Walked in, after about 5-7 minutes I asked to be seated as 3 people just stood around looking at my friend and I. ( they were not busy btw) We finally got seated and it took appx 15-20 minutes for our order to be taken only to find out that the kitchen is closed. They close at 12am and we were there about 10:15pm. So we were slightly annoyed because that’s something you tell someone before you seat then but we went ahead to order drinks. The waiter did come back to tell us we could get 2 specific things on the menu so we got it. The food came and we didn’t get any utensils. I asked a staff member for utensils and napkins and she looked at me very confused as if she didn’t know what that was but eventually brought it. After we got the drinks and the appetizers, we saw food coming out that looked as if it was just prepared (shrimp etc). What appeared to be the owner/manager got food brought to her as she stood at a Pilar eating right next to us. We tried to make excuses for this place but it just kept getting worse. The drink my friend originally ordered she didn’t like so she ordered a different one and as the waiter told the bartender she looked visibly annoyed that we requested another drink. At this point we wanted to leave. The only reason I would give this place a 2/10 was only because they had a saxophonist and comfortable seating. Highly highly do not recommend.
