I decided to drop in for lunch as I was in the area. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and well organized space. I was greeted quickly, and while I was alone, was given my choice of seating (does not often happen when I am dining solo). The service (Salina.. and I hope I spelled her name correctly) was professional and quick. I was offered menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are many options on the menu.
The music playing was upbeat but not so loud as to drown out people's conversations. There were many TVs on the wall showing the baseball game, but the sound was off, again allowing for good conversation levels.
I ordered coffee and the quinoa salad with chicken. I asked that the chicken be sliced a particular way. The coffee arrived very quickly, it was hot and was served with 10% real cream.
The food was delivered in a timely manner and I was very impressed. All of the ingredients were very fresh, the chicken was seasoned to pair with the vegetables and the dressing. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was juicy and sliced as I had asked. The dressing itself had just the right amount of tanginess. The amount of cranberry in the salad was great, and time was taken to ensure the cranberries were not stuck together. The feta was creamy yet crumbled and distributed evenly in the greens.
The quinoa was cooked through but not to mush, another plus. The bowl as a whole was not overpacked with the less expensive ingredients. I appreciate this because food waste is an issue and restaurants can do a lot to reduce waste by having good, but not huge servings. I was impressed with the balance and quality of the ingredients.
Salina checked in on me a few times in a very pleasant manner. While I was having my lunch, the owner TK spoke to the table next to me to ask about their meals. He listened and spoke respectfully to the elderly women seated at the table.
TK came to speak with me about my meal, I told him how impressed I was with the new menu and quality of the meal. I have to give him extra points because at no time did he call me "dear," which has happened far too often of late in other places. He asked my name, introduced himself and thanked me for coming in.
In all, I had a lovely meal and very good experience. I will definitely go back and will suggest this as a good local restaurant to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally I do not like leaving negative reviews but our recent and last visit at this restaurant warranted a review. Weāve come here 4 times since it has been open as social 7 and wanted to support businesses in the local area. We used to come when it was branded as 6social and had a different owner.
All 4 times that we had visited, we have been disappointed with the food/drinks and service. The first 3 times, the food really disappointed us with the lack of flavour. The drinks were also watered down and did not have an enjoyable taste to them. We stuck to beer at this place the last time we visited. The previous visits we just chalked it up to them being new and learning things and would improve.
The tall manager also needs to work on his customer service skills. He was abrasive and rude and did not provide great customer service. We also heard him talk to other customers and the staff in a rude way.
Service always took long even though they were not busy.
We decided to give it another chance months later and see if maybe things have changed- we were seated and did not have a chance to look at the drink menu when the waitress asked us what we wanted for drinks. Told her to give us a second to look first. Husband and I ordered our entrees; one dish with salad (as it was presented as an option for sides by the waitress) and the other with fries with no salt. They switched the sides, which normally is not an issue. The fries were heavily salted and seasoned to the point where you only taste salt. Asked her to take it and bring new fries with no salt. Came back with fries with salt and no seasoning. Had to tell her again that we wanted fries with no salt. Took a while for the fries to come out and by that time, husband was done with his entree. She asked him if he wanted ketchup to which he said yes and she was about ready to pour the ketchup for him and he had to stop her and tell her that heād do it himself. When we saw the bill they had charged us $3.77 for the salad which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu or by the waitress. We just assumed it was a substitution for fries.
After this, we will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI didn't want to write this review just because I find bad reviews sometimes kind of cringey especially for new restaurants. I've worked in restaurants almost my whole life so I understand that sometimes things happen. This location has been a staple in the community for quite some time. Back when it was the Six Social they had great drinks and a wonderful dessert menu. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. My husband had the burger and fries I had the nachos, our friend had the sticky toffee pudding and spinach dip, and burger w/fries. The burger and fries were frozen they tasted like the cheapest ones that you can get from McCain wholesale. The naan bread with the spinach dip was clearly not made that day as it was warm in the center and cold on the outside a notorious sign of being microwaved then toasted. The spinach dip was literally just melted cheese with spinach. The nachos were not restaurant quality; the chili on the nachos tasted metallic as if it came from a can, cheese on the outside was melted but inside just barely. The worst part was that I got rancid salsa. I was shocked and thought maybe it was just me so I asked my friend to try it and they agreed the sauce was rancid. When I told the owner about this he said sorry about that but made no offer to make up for the meal. I started to feel VERY sick, nearly gagged at the table, called the manager over again to inform them that I wouldn't be paying for the nachos, and suggest that they pull that sauce. Asking for them to pull the sauce might sound audacious but the sauce was ROTTEN. First manager had left for the night so the second manager came over said that he had tried the salsa and it tasted normal to him, and that he wouldn't be pulling the sauce because he had already served it to other patrons. (I'm sorry what??) When it came time to pay the bill they hadn't removed the nachos and I had to remind them to take it off our meal. It's really sad to see this place go to the gutter like that. My husband and his friend used to go there regularly but none of us will...
