Sumach Espresso has the kind of atmosphere many other coffee shops can only dream of. Plenty of seating inside (and a lovely 'woody' old bookshop feel) with plants adorning the shelves and staff who will (and do) accommodate your every coffee need. Even when there's a queue out the door, everyone is served in a timely manner and with a smile.
If you get there early enough, you HAVE to indulge in one of their mellifluous almond croissants (NB: not recommended for dieters). The sandwiches are good too - but sadly not nearly as good as when the owner used to make them. As for the coffee, it's a coffee-purist's dream. Rich, strong and creamy with subtle notes of dark chocolate and a whisper of welcome bitterness.
Good luck nabbing a patio seat on a warm day, but if you do, you can enjoy your repast in dappled sunshine.
Sumach Espresso is most definitely a gem and I can only highly recommend it as I do every...
Read moreI've walked past Sumach Coffee countless times, always promising myself I'd stop in, and I'm so glad I finally did. This spot is everything you want in a local coffee shop—it truly is a lovely neighbourhood gem.
The atmosphere is immediately relaxed and inviting, making it a solid contender if you're looking for a spot to settle in and work for a few hours.
There are great seating options, whether you prefer the casual indoor vibe, the fresh air of the outside patio, or the unique spots provided by their street-side parkette.
The coffee itself was excellent. I ordered an Americano, and it was perfectly pulled—a great start to the day. To go with it, I tried one of their savory pastries, and it was exactly the perfect, delicious bite to complement the drink.
If you're looking for quality coffee, and a great place to sit back and watch the world go by, Sumach Coffee should be...
Read moreMy coworker and I were looking for a quick coffee stop and the building we were heading to only had one nearby which is Sumach Espresso. The place was already quite busy around 9 in the morning that made me think it must be really good. Inside, it was a bit hard to find a seat and the menu was a little confusing at first.
Thankfully, the staff at the counter was very kind and helped me choose how I wanted my coffee. I ordered an iced coffee and a banana bread while my coworker got a hot matcha latte and a plain croissant. The drinks and pastries were okay.. nothing too special and a bit pricey for the portion size (even the large drink felt small).
Overall, it wasn’t bad for a first try but it didn’t really stand out enough for me to come back.
PS. I forgot to take a pictures of what we've ordered since we left the place because it was too uncomfy to...
