On May 17th 2025, me and my four friends had to deal with upsetting service. I specifically ordered an order of dragon roll and an order of spicy salmon roll. As me and my friends ate, I came across a hair in my spicy salmon roll - keep in mind, it was wedged in between the rolls and even had sauce on it. We were pretty polite to the waiters, considering that I had just found a piece of hair in my food. They remade it for me, however, decided to act salty. The guy working that day had said that the hair was apparently red.. and none of the staff had red hair. The hair was black, and it might just have been the sauce that was red, considering it was coming from a spicy salmon roll. However, the main point is, that he said that. He said that as if we had took the time to plant it in there for an upside, when I didn’t even ask for a discount or a refund, but just agreed to a new plate. What he said was completely unnecessary, and seeing how unnecessary it was, it was clear to tell he was saying that implying that they had no fault yes, but more that it was our fault, basically saying we did that. Not even an apology or act of service, just an unnecessary back talk and reasoning. The girl working there didn’t know how to handle such a situation, which I understand as it was so out of the blue, but at least she was nice. The guy, however, had been working there for a while already, and he’s always had a blunt attitude when serving, barely smiles too. I stumbled across this sushi place when I was in the area and craving sushi, and it was a great decision. The restaurant itself is quite small, they do first come first serve dine in. Atmosphere wise, there was nothing special about it. It was a very ‘mom & pop’ restaurant vibe but don’t let the interior fool you as their food was amazing.
I gave 3/5 for service as they weren’t that attentive, maybe because our table was tucked in a corner at the front of the restaurant? We did have to wave down the server for our order to be taken and to get the bill (never checked up on us during our meal).
We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box & Yakiniku Bulgogi Bento Box. The bento boxes come with green salad, vegetable tempura, gyoza, rice & miso soup so great deal for the portions as well! We also got the Spicy Salmon Roll & Salmon Sashimi, along with a Spicy California Handroll & Edamame. Now I can be quite picky about sushi places and the freshness of the fish… but I can say that I was blown away with how wonderful everything tasted & how fresh the fish was. Beef & salmon were well cooked, and the batter on the tempura was nice and light. Wowwww! Sushi Zuki is definitely a MUST TRY sushi place when you’re in the area. I guarantee they will not disappoint - I’ll be coming back again to try some of their other dishes (like their Yuki Udon which comes on a sizzling plate).

Read moreThis place used to be good 6 years ago when I moved into the neighbourhood, but it became popular quick and it became painfully clear that they couldn't handle the volume. There's no reliable communication between the kitchen and the front of house, so when you order takeout they'll always tell you that it will be 15 minutes, or 20 minutes, but when you show up you can end up waiting another 45 minutes and it's not uncommon to see other angry customers there. There was one time where I paid for my order and stood there waiting for it, only to find out that it was sitting there already for 10 minutes. I've given them so many chances because it's the restaurant closest to us, but I'm fed up and I'm never going back. Recently I showed up within 30 minutes (even though they said it would take 20 for my order to be ready). I waited an additional 45 minutes (75 minutes total when they said 20 minutes), and when I demanded a refunded they weren't interested in refunding my money but asked me to wait longer which is ridiculous when your order is already 55 minutes late. They only care about themselves and keeping things low cost as the burden of mismanaging time is handed down to the customer. They'll do whatever they can to hold onto the almighty dollar while their most faithful and closest customers vow to never to go back and will go out of their way just to avoid this place even though it's walking...
