Tail of the Junction might be the most polarizing bar I’ve been to in all of Toronto. I would by no means call myself a regular but I am very familiar with the joint, the people, and the type of experience you might expect from this place.
Firstly, the beer is cheap. You might spend as much as $6 for a bottle and that’s not bad. Many places in Toronto will charge double for the same thing. I wouldn’t trust the food to be any good, nor any glassware to be particularly clean so stick to bottles if you are drinking here. There is a 7/11 next to here which offers plenty of drunk food for when you get munchies.
For entertainment, there is a wobbly pool table with some crooked cues. Enough fun if you aren’t too serious about pool, definitely Bring some change for that.
This place is actually great for events. Many friends of mine, including myself actually.. have booked this venue for album releases, lots of great local bands have played here. Definitely keep yourself updated as to who might pop by. Lots of talent in this city and this venue seems to host lots of upcoming artists. HOWEVER, if you are an artist. The sound setup needs to be addressed. This is not a very capable sound system. Bring your own gear and bring a sound man, hire someone. You’ll thank me. The lighting in this venue, albeit since recent renovations, is lot better, it still leaves much to be desired if you’re taking photos here.
Lastly, but most importantly. BE CAREFUL this area is not the safest. Your only security are the police that u-turn across the street. Like anywhere, this place has regulars, you don’t necessarily want to be friends with. Drugs and gang activities are prevalent, as well as sexual assault.
I have had some really great nights at TOJ. but you really have to pick your battles and keep your back against the wall. Stay out of the bathrooms and stay...

I am deeply disappointed with this place. As a neighbor, we have been struggling to put up with the constant noise, loud music, and general disrespect for the neighborhood. It’s impossible to sleep at night due to the blaring music that goes on until the early hours. This is not just an occasional occurrence—it happens all the time!
I have young kids who are trying to sleep and get ready for school, but the noise makes it impossible. There are often creepy and questionable individuals hanging around outside, making the area feel unsafe, especially for families. It’s gotten to the point where we dread being home at night.
This establishment shows absolutely no consideration for the community around it. I would not recommend it to anyone who values peace and respect for their surroundings. If you're looking for a good place, look...
Read moreOvertly hot inside for summer shows and bands (it was 30 degrees outside, the venue was even hotter), constant flashing strobe lights that never seemed to stop. couldn’t hear a thing over the general bar music (not the bands obviously), restricted access to back end space of the venue for bands (sketchy reasoning couldn’t be bothered to ask anymore questions) and last but not least, people selling illicit drugs directly...
