The Greater Good Bar in Toronto offers a relaxed atmosphere with a strong focus on craft beer and New York–style pizza. Located on Geary Avenue, it’s popular for its rotating selection of local brews, featuring 18 taps that frequently change. The food, especially the pizza, is a highlight, with favorites like pepperoni and margherita with sesame seeds. It's also a great spot for casual entertainment, with vintage arcade games like pinball and skee ball, adding to its charm as a neighborhood hangout. The bar has an energetic vibe, which can make it quite lively and loud, particularly on busy nights. If you're looking for a quieter experience, sitting downstairs or on the outdoor patio is recommended. Reviews often praise the pizza and beer, but some mention that the arcade upstairs doesn't quite live up to expectations. Still, it remains a go-to for craft beer enthusiasts and those seeking a laid-back, fun night out.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at The Greater Good Pub. One of the servers, whose name I was told might be Eyob, treated my friends and me with extreme disrespect. He swore at us, used offensive language, and even threw items at our table. Without asking, he began clearing our table and aggressively rushed us out, which felt like an attempt to humiliate us. His behavior came across as blatantly unprofessional and, at times discriminatory. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable, and I hope the management takes immediate action to address this situation. Customers deserve to feel respected and valued, and no one should ever have to experience this type of behavior at any establishment.

Great bar to bring the little ones during the early family hours. I highly reccomend the Killer Bee pizza. The spiciness is 90% flavour & 10% heat. If you like sours, the Radenbach Grand on tap at the time. Nice balance that was not so sour that it made me suck my gums like some other sours. The arcade machines are free, pinball is paid. The pool table was closed until later when the kids were gone (I totally understand that, my nephews and other kids were touching & rubbing their hands on the felt)

Terrible place!!! Avoid it at all costs. There is no structure; this brewery is a complete disorganized mess. The only person that greeted and acknowledged my group was the security guard, who was checking our vaccine passport. Other than that, once you get inside, customer service is nonexistent. We looked around for anybody to greet us, seat us and give us information. Nothing. Made eye contact with several staff and everyone looked and walked past. Nobody told us that it was self service or that you have to order drinks yourself at the bar and order food yourself at the kitchen. It was super bizarre. It was a quiet Sunday and there wasn't many people dining. I didn't understand why none of the staff could do the bare minimum of explaining this to us.

We seated ourselves, waited and nobody came to our table. The bartenders just stared at us. My friend finally decided to go up to the bar and inquire and ordered drinks. There was a bunch of non alcoholic drinks on their menu online and the bartender said he could only provide a soda can. The bartender had zero friendliness, warmth and customer service skills. He poured the drink, passed it over and continued his conversation.

My group and I were planning to have drinks and pizza here. I personally love North of Brooklyn Pizza and have eaten it many times in the past. But the bartender/manager/whoever that was ruined it. He was wearing a black cap and his name is Nick. My friend ordered another round of drinks and Nick said "Thanks for the no tip again!". This is extremely rude, disrespectful and passive aggressive. Assuming that my friend wasn't going to tip. She planned on tipping at the end of the night. This sly comment just ruined our night. Of all the things that are affecting the restaurant business because of the pandemic, a GROWN MAN is pressed about how much tips he's going to get from every customer and if he doesn't receive one, then he's going to be upset and make a scene. This is embarrassing for you Nick and the restaurant. After he made that comment, I watched him and his colleague (blond woman) gossip and glare at us.

We felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed and decided to leave. I was showing my friends from out of town a local brewery and this is the impression they left on us.

Don't go here because the staff working expect amazing tips from every single customer that comes in yet do not offer any type of service or hospitality that would be worth tipping.

SKIP THIS PLACE!!! Not worth your precious...

I visited Greater Good Bar after three months with new set of friends, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, the staff's pettiness ruined our night.

We politely asked for an extra seat, as we were a group of four with only three seats available. Instead of accommodating us which is a very reasonable ask, the server reminded us of a negative review we left three months ago. The server then said and I quote " I wanted to confront you about what happened last time", insisting we were wrong . This went on for 20 minutes, disrupting our experience and bothering other patrons.

Their unprofessional behavior and grudge over a months-old review were astonishing. We left and won't return. Save your time and find a place with better service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Any reasonable place would have appreciated the fact that we went back to give them another chance but these folks were holding a grudge for 3 months and pounced at the opportunity to deflect the blame onto us.

Our recent visit to the Greater Good left much to be desired. Despite our group of five struggling to find seating, we were met with rudeness from both the server and bartender. After finally settling at the bar, we were abruptly asked to move due to an alleged service area overlap. Despite pointing out available seating, we were met with dismissiveness and hostility. Attempting to make the best of the situation, we moved to a table, only to encounter further frustration when a friend was forced to return a chair to its original location by the bartender. Being yelled at and treated with such disrespect is unacceptable, especially when we are paying customers. It's regrettable that our experience was tarnished by such poor service, and we have no intention...

This was my all time favorite place until tonight.

I used to pay $8.50 for a beer here for the longest time and I always left $10. More recently, the beer price increased to $9.50 and I kept giving $10 for each beer.

This Friday, November the 22nd, I went into the bar with $70 cash. Each beer I got costed $9.50 and I left $10, as always.

Until one of the guys at the bar gave me fire for not tiping enough. Given that I always had to get up from my table and go to the bar to get my beer, I don't really see the reason to tip in the first place. And yet, I did.

I have been coming here for 2+ years (and have had two birthdays here in that time, with 20+ people), and I tried explaining this to the guy at the bar (the blond haired guy), to which he reacted saying that "haven't prices increased?". I asked him if he would really talk to me in the tone he was talking. He got even angrier and kept at it, so I left.

Yes, the price of things have increased. And so has the price of the beer. From $8.50 to $9.50. If someone depends that much on tips, maybe speak up to your boss about it.

After that, the security guard came by to ask/escort me out, whom ended up arguing with me as well.

Anyway Friday, November 22nd, 2024, was the last time I ever stepped foot at the Greater Good.

I'm giving it 2 stars because of the good times I had here.

To everyone else, I recommend going elsewhere for beers. There are other places available for...
