The Jerk Box — Restaurant in Toronto

Food is good.... Great prices.... Super SLOW service!!!!!! My only problem with this place is its Extremely RUDE staff!!! Never again will I be purchasing food from here until the staff is replaced or learn how to control their foul mouths towards there customers that are paying their salaries! Managment seriously needs to review there employees!! The chubby cashier needs to be fired she's the worst one of them all she has ZERO customer service skills and her attitude just sucks!! I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless they wanna be verbally attacked by the ratchet chubby cashier that thinks she's all that!!! Or having to wait 20 mins in line to be served because the servers move like snails!!!

To the owner this happened yesterday June 2, 2018 and all the other countless times I've been in your establishment. Myself and my husband are regulars. Yesterday was my last straw with that chubby cashier with the blue shower cap on her head and her rudeness she just attacks you out of no where and starts an argument. I'm a very self controlled person that didn't respond to her stupidity but if she was to just attack the wrong person God knows what could happen in your restaurant! Especially in that area! she seriously needs to get some etiquette skills and manners towards your clientele or be let go. As a store manager to an owner if that was my staff she would've been fired already. Staff that are disrespectful towards your customers are just destroying your business and have no respect for you or your business and it's a matter of time people stop coming there. Just remember you need your customers to keep you in business not your staff, staff can be easily replaced. Once you leave a sour taste in your customers mouth their bound to tell their friends about the experience in your restaurant and people slowly start dropping out of being your customer and you don't want that. Also I don't understand why your servers have to constantly run to the back to get 2 or 3 pieces of chicken to bring out front every 2 mins why not bring out the whole tray and done and keep the line moving. Servers need to be more attentive when customers order food as well because sometimes we have to repeat ourselves 3 or 4 times before they understand what we want not all of us are loud or speak patwa because sometimes it feels like they don't understand plain English when we speak and that's when the rudeness of the staff starts towards the customer when they don't...

I've been to The Jerk Box a few times and the food is good but I have one major complaint. There is no consistency with the level of pepper you will get! I've had food there that was perfect in regards to pepper level, went back and ordered the same exact thing, and the pepper is through the roof! To the point where you can not even fully enjoy the food because your whole mouth is on fire, nose running, might even break a sweat. I found chunks of broken up scotch bonnet pepper in my meal. Is that really necessary?

When I was there ordering food one time, the girl in front of me asked if one of the dishes is hot and the server told her yes...she said nope, nevermind, it's gonna be too hot for me. Now I understand why she asked that question and then refused the food! It really is a bit much.

Eating food with so much pepper is actually not even good for your body, health wise, it's bad for your digestive tract. Jerk Box owner/chefs... please go easy on the pepper in your food. If people want more pepper, they can add it themselves. But for those of us who don't like our food hot, it really doesn't leave us any option other than to stop eating there. So please, I'm begging you, please change this one aspect.

Other than that, I don't have any complaints. I've had great customer service. I see a lot of people complaining that staff is rude and I'm not invalidating their experiences, but I think it also has a lot to do with what kind of energy/attitude you bring as well.

As for atmosphere, it's a small shop, not fancy at all, and in an area with high traffic, so usually a lot of people lingering around. It's not my cup of tea, but rather than complain, I just grab my food and go. I mean, it is what it is and it's not going to change so take it or leave it.

Anyway, please take my advice about the pepper situation, I'm sure I'm not the only one who...

I see my google review was deleted by the restaurant I guess they don’t want people to know the truth about their food! That’s okay I will keep copying and pasting it back to make sure my post stays up. This is my third time ordering from this place and I will never order again from here. This morning I ordered 2 callaloo & saltfish breakfast for my husband & I & let me tell not one piece of callaloo mi get all we get was cabbage it should have been called cabbage a very little saltfish not callaloo & saltfish. Mi couldn’t believe I spent 45$ on cabbage, & the worst part about it when I called they tell me “oh it’s cabbage and calloo mix“ I said mix? You mean all cabbage? Friggin ridiculous. These people are very teef & im glad I got my refund back through Uber eats. Because those 2 breakfast were not worth no 45$.

The week before I ordered 2 bbq dinners and one curry goat dinner all came out to 70$ the worst 70$ I have ever spent the bbq chicken was absolutely disgusting no bbq on the chicken we literally through it in the garbage. & the curry goat was too spicy! The week before I ordered the butter peas and saltfish and it was way too spicy you can’t even taste the food.

Do NOT ORDER from here!!! I am a Jamaican and this food is not authentic Jamaican do not let these...
