After reading the rave reviews I had high hopes. Those were quickly dashed. The girl serving us was very sweet and pleasant. That was the best part. However, she also was also only sporadically attentive. She was on the phone chatting after bringing our tacos, so I went to ask about the guacomole and she told me it was coming, I guess they were making it. The guacamole was pretty decent, fresh and spicy but could have used more flavour. The chips that came with it were visibly burnt and that was the majority of them. My friend and I both ordered a plate of 3 tacos each. The meats were extremely salty (and I love salt) and the pastor (?) pork was visibly overcooked and extremely dry. Her tacos came with limes and with onion and cilantro garnish, mine did not, so we had to share and switch as she does not like onions and I do like onions. I ordered the corn in a cup, it never came. I mentioned at the end and the girl very sweetly apologized and said that she forgot to tell me that they did not have any corn or had run out, and she had removed it from the bill. The soft taco shells were dry. I found the food so unappealing that we had to smother it in the guacamole and I had to down it with my coke. The atmosphere is very casual, and more of a moms and pops type of setting. This was fine for us, but may not suit people looking for a nice setting for any special occasions. The hot sauce that came with the tacos was okay, nothing special. If I compare it to the food I ate in mexico on the street corners, I would rate it a 3. The music was authentic and I did like it, felt like I was in mexico, but it was pretty loud and hard to carry on a conversation in a normal tone. There were loud echos in the place when people were chatting, so I wonder if the music is loud to drown out the echos of voices. It was relatively busy when we arrived, nobody but us by the time our food started to come, and only one other family as we left. We really like the girl who served us, so neither of us had the heart to tell her how bad the food was when she asked. No parking, but there was street parking that was easy to find on a weekday afternoon. We won't be going back...
Read moreReally good food. Homey, flavourful and moderately priced. Service was quick, if maybe a little quiet. Large party of about twelve people just finishing up when we arrived. Dining room could use a little more decoration as the room sounded empty and hollow. Nevermind that. The enchaladas were very flavourful and moist. The salsa rojas was fresh. The tacos were also moist and flavourful. Cilantro may be a little heavy-handed for my partner, but no complaints from me. What was told to us as a spicy sauce was only mildly so. Again a little too much cilantro for some. The only very small criticism was the Guacamole. Lots of onions and tomatoes, but light on he avacado. More of a chunky, oniony, tomatoey salsa-esqueserving instead of a predominately avacado dip. Maybe it's me, but either not enough dip for the tortilla chips or too many chips for the guacamole. Definately...
Read moreThis is the 2nd time at Tita's, the 1st time we tried this place was at their Lakeshore location, me and my friend loved their food but the restaurant was mostly for take out. For this 2nd time, we wanted to try the location at St. Clair, since it's a bigger place with a seating area. The food was very good, my friend loved their Chilaquiles. Only one thing we didn't like, was that the young gentleman serving wasn't very friendly and he seemed bothered by something. I ordered a Tres Leches cake to go, until I got home realized that was a heart shaped cake package (just hoping that wasn't a Valentine's day leftover, old cake) dry and with lack of flavour. Overall this is still a good place to get Mexican food, I hope if we go back to this location, their service be a little bit warmer and more welcoming, and also that the 3 leches...
