Holy cow. My partner is a five-star chef and he's work near Pearson airport and has worked in a credited restaurants Asian and all that stuff as well. He and I we both believe this deserves five star. That was amazing. I think I got number 34 and he believes he got the number 29 combo thing from their menu.
The bamboo shoot marinated/fermented was gorgeous. The beef was marinated and I think it was cashews or some sort of nuts that I can have but my partner is allergic so he did not get anything that had peanuts and they were keen on making sure that since he had allergy the mixes and ingredients did not interlude Absolutely the most tasteful food you will ever have.
It's a traditional Mom and Pop shop and the tea is a little light; however I appreciate the tea being so quaint and mild it was easily chuggable - wish I'm prone to being gluttonous about (192 lb at 6 ft 3 I don't think it's that gluttonous).
I tried some of his meal and he tried some of mine and we both agreed this was very on par with "you should be able to do things at a restaurant that you can't do at home and if you can do these things at home why would you go to the restaurant?".
The restaurant certainly has perfected its recipes. For a Monday late afternoon I don't find any fault with the foods or staff - usually what might happen is the ingredients are soggy or have problem; however not with this place.
This is a very very good restaurant for taste...
Read moreWas there for dinner.
The main division of the menu is either their soup noodles or their non soup dishes. HK style.
I ordered rice dishes. Lots of rice, more than the ingredients. So not a great ratio to begin with. The rice was old, in that it was hard when left out for too long and it was dried out. This also happened with the Saucier dishes that are slathered in sauce on top. So more attention needs to be put on the rice as it should be light and fluffy, not hard and clumped together.
The server initially gave us chopsticks, spoons, bowls, and napkins. When we got our included soup and the dishes started to come, the server deciced that we didn't need one of the metal spoons that was initially given and took it back. While it was unused, not very professional and not very hygienic as it was returned to the same cutlery holder it was whence taken from. That's a big faux pas!
The inside environment had fruit flies that were buzzing close to the cashier, and one of the servers was walking around with a fly swatter, swatting about. Not professional and also very unhygienic.
So safe to say, a return visit won't be happening any time...
Read moreMy recent experience at Tsui Wah Restaurant in Scarborough was absolutely delightful! The restaurant offers generous portions of delicious food at reasonable prices, making it a definite go-to spot for anyone craving authentic flavors.
I particularly enjoyed the Lamb Brisket Vermicelli in Soup, prepared in the Gui Lin style. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the lamb brisket was tender and succulent. What truly elevated the dish was the hint of spice that lingered in every spoonful, leaving a memorable impression.
Another standout feature is their in-house chili oil, which tastes remarkably similar to XO sauce. It added the perfect kick to each dish, enhancing the overall dining experience.
I also tried the Fried Pork Intestine, and it was a delightful surprise. The texture was crispy, and the flavors were well-balanced, making it a satisfying choice for those seeking something a bit more adventurous.
Overall, Tsui Wah Restaurant exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, ample portions, and...
