Dine in experience: The actual location of it doesn't match the atmosphere on the inside. It is nicely decorated. The food was good at least what I had. It was flavourful, but wish it had a little more kick to it, a tad too mild for me. The price point for some items were a bit pricey. A bowl of plain basmati rice was 9 dollars, on average other Indian food spots charge 5 bucks. My friends that had items from the hakka menu said it was okay. As for the service is wasn't that great, the gentleman there wasn't super friendly/welcoming and wasn't great at describing items on the menu nor providing recommendations. He was trying to push mocktails/cocktails, which I understand is where they make their money. I would have gotten a virgin mojito but that was only a dollar less than the alcoholic version and it was 12 bucks on average places like moxies because their is no alcohol would sell it for under 10 bucks. We each order a dish plus a side, it was filling and we wouldn't over order since it was a new place trying for the first time. The portion size was decent depending on the dish. The girl that was there was more friendly, but she wasn't our server. Also, our server never informed us of the automatic 18% gratuity. Should be more transparent about that and maybe the automatic tip may have contributed to the lack of service. The food was decent, so I would eat here again, but not sure about dining here again.
Take out/delivery: I ordered take out, requested the dish to be spicy, but it wasn't. However, it was still flavourful. The euphoria momos were decent my mom liked the chili ketchup condiment that came with the order, but ai wasn't a fan. Maybe if it was a chili oil or honey chili oil, or hot honey may have preferred that instead. However, I put some of the Makhni sauce on top of it and it did the job and help elevate the dish. Would try again, but again don't think I'll dine in again. Take out is cheaper, sometimes have better deals on some...
Read moreTerrible service, false feedback by the restaurant on what really happened.
Out of our table of 5, there was one person who went outside multiple times for a cigarette. Now while I doubt another customer complained (the one table near door didn’t seem bothered) I cannot confirm this. What I can confirm is that no one else at our table went out to smoke a cigarette, let alone marijuana; but that’s not the point. The point is that NOT ONCE was anyone approached about going outside to smoke and NOT ONCE was a request made to stop this; so this is just simply not true.
So unfortunately your staff is lying.. which to me is worse than any issues encountered with the food/service/bill.
We can disagree and argue about the food/service/bill all day.. but this story about ‘repeated requests’ to stop going out to smoke is 100% a complete fabrication.
You can tell a lot about an establishment in how they handle criticism/complaints.. and lying about the situation is as bad as it gets.
One last caveat to potential customers. (Forget for second that people smoking outside a bar or cafe is commonplace) Keep in mind that this establishment serves shisha. So I really don’t understand the gripe with people smoking a cigarette OUTSIDE when multiple tables INSIDE (including ours) had shisha going. Just a warning to potential patrons. I didn’t mind but I know there are people out there who’d prefer a meal in a smoke free environment. Just felt the need to post that giving the owners apparent gripe with people smoking outside..
The restaurant its self serves shisha in an extremely poor ventilation system! Considering it’s a health and safety issue I wonder what DineSafe...
Read moreWe visited Unplugged Cafe & Bar today, Jun 15th, 2024.
The first impression was great with a nice ambiance, decorations, a relaxing vibe at the place, which earns the place 5 stars.
The owner is very soft-spoken and polite and the other workers are all very professional, thus 5 stars for Service.
Coming to the food, we decided to ordered steamed veg momos, manchurian+veg noodles, and butter naan+paneer methi malai.
The momos were good quality in terms of filling, however I missed the authentic taste from the chutney that came with the momos. It was a little too sweet for my taste and lacking in spice. However they were accommodating enough to compensate for the lack of spice by making it spicier on demand.
My wife tried the manchurian+veg hakka noodles and she really liked the taste of both the items.
Similarly, the Paneer Methi Malai+Butter Naan also taste very well. They were a bit different from my expectations as the dish I've had previously had a white gravy and a milder taste, however the gravy at Unplugged was more towards the spicier side as well as much tangier due to use of tomatoes. HOWEVER, this different preparation of Paneer Methi Malai was also delicious! So 4 Stars here for the food, with definite expectations of updating it to 5 Stars the next time we visit.
We also saw a variety of mocktails and Hukkah here but did not try those on this visit.
Certainly recommend the place! Do give Unplugged a chance and make your...
