beyond disappointed with our experience this past weekend. i had made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday (which i wrote down in the note) and upon arrival, no one came to greet us, ask us what the name on the reservation was, the time, etc. meanwhile, the servers all noticed us - and did not acknowledge us. it was awkward standing there and not being acknowledged, until the bartender asked us if we had a reservation and told us to take a seat and order a drink if we wanted to (which my boyfriend did) because they were running behind. after sitting for over 30 minutes and waiting - they told us that they were starting to work on a table for us. we got seated at 8:50 and our reservation was at 8! once we sat, everyone around us was eating, being attended to and all we got was a waiter who came to our table, gave us a water and as i tried ordering, he told us that the kitchen staff is behind and it would be a bit before being able to order. we waited, waited, waited and waited - crickets. the waiter walked by us multiple times and did not even offer us a piece of bread or asked us if we would like to order more drinks or anything. it was beyond frustrating that it's now an hour and change later.... and nothing. this is the first time in a restaurant that i have ever experienced customer service like this - no sense of urgency whatsoever. completely disappointing as this was my boyfriends birthday dinner and we were excited to eat here as the food looked amazing... but the service was awful. we made the decision to get up and leave at 9:20PM. as i went to the front and tried to pay for my boyfriends drink, i let one of the servers and bartender know that we had a reservation at 8 and it's past 9 and no one has even helped us... and they ultimately told us that we wouldn't need to pay for our drink at that point. it's completely disappointing because the staff clearly struggled with the amount of people who booked reservation and it seemed as if there was a flawed communication system throughout the restaurant that night. i would like to believe that it's not always like that, but i am not too sure at this point. our night was completely ruined by this as most places in the area closed early and were already booked for the night. completely awful experience to...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 6pm yesterday but we got so excited from reading all the reviews so we went there a bit too early like 5pm. The host there at the restaurant was very polite and friendly to say that they were running a bit behind the schedule and guided us to the next door which was their sister store to get a drink but we decided to explore the little Italy. We walked to the newly opened t&t supermarket in the neighborhood bought some Asian food for the week and walked back to the restaurant. We were there around 5:45pm and were able to sit down this time so they were not behind the schedule at all. It's us too early(lol).
We were guided by the host to the back door of the restaurant to a nice. quiet. peaceful outdoor patio and sit down. Now, our journey started. We were served by a wonderful nice gentleman who were very passionate about the Italian cousins explained all the questions we had about the menu and also introduced the chiefs special of the day. We were so hungary at that moment so we decided to skip the wine and straight to the food which was a bit odd to an Italian restaurant but we didn't feel treated any different from others. The food came just the way we expected.
The food was exceptional, the services were top notch, the patio was in a nice, quiet, peaceful clean street, the weather was perfect. We had a great experience dine out in the little Italy. Highly...
Read moreOur meal started off really strong. Attentive and friendly service and our appetizers were very good (especially the charred artichokes).
The dining room is nicely decorated and a great mix of old school charm with new age sensibilities.
Unfortunately things sort of went downhill from thereon out. There was a substantial gap between our first two courses and when the main came out we were ready to feast.
The Porterhouse we ordered medium rare came out mostly medium. With that being said it was still decent but some pieces were dry and tough. I think it might have just been ours that missed the mark since our neighbours got one as well and it looked like a perfectly cooked medium rare. While yes we could have sent it back to the kitchen, we weren't inclined to do so since the wait would have been long. The potatoes were beautifully executed however and completely overshadowed the steak!
Dessert was the tiramusi and it was really well done. Not overly sweet, great use of pistachios. Our only gripe was that the portion was a touch on the small side but they tell you that upfront.
As the restaurant filled up unfortunately our server was nowhere to be found and we had to flag down another waitress after waiting for over 20 minutes to try and get our cheque (her attitude/demeanor was...
