My husband and I are frequent flyers at Curry Express. We even had them cater our wedding in July. One of our guests said it was the best food they'd ever been served at a wedding. I give them an EASY 5 stars. The food is always good, even if it isn't always exactly the same. To me, the fact that there is an occasional VERY slight difference tells me that it is being prepared by someone who knows how to cook and cooks from the heart and from memory. I liken it to eating at home. Mom's meals might not taste exactly the same every time, but they're always amazing and authentic. We will visit Curry Express most times we come to Bridgewater. My husband is from India and gives their Dal Makhani particularly high praise as the best in the province (he has lived here 7 years). I'm shocked at the number of low reviews (and the similarity between them, in particular). The fact that some of the lowest reviews are identical makes them feel like an unfair smear campaign against a wonderful local restaurant.
Now, I've praised the food, I must praise the service. I always feel so warmly welcomed, and at this point, recognized, by the people working here. Everyone is always pleasant, friendly, and helpful. They truly do go above and beyond.
If you haven't already, try Curry Express! You...
Read moreRead moreI have updated the review below -- we recently gave it another try after about a 3 month break. It seems that the quality has improved. Maybe, possibly posting honest reviews has had an influence? Objectively speaking the pakoras were again plump and well cooked instead of the burnt chicken mcnugget size they were on the previous visits, and the samosas seemed to have also improved. I hope this is the new trend. See original review here We used to make special trips to bridgewater just to get food here. But since they have moved to the new location the quality of the food has gone down (IMHO) to where we no longer eat there. a very big disappointment. Possibly nothing has changed as taste can be very subjective, but in two peoples unanimous opinion, the quality control or the recipes/ingredients have changed for the worse. They have lost two customers who used to recommend...
Well, that was particularly uninspiring. Having just arrived from Toronto, I was excited over the prospect of a nice curry dinner, as Indian restaurants are pretty thin on the ground in Nova Scotia. The dining room is quite a harsh experience that is reminiscent of a 80s era fast food interior. The portions are the smallest I've encountered, and the seasonings were all but absent. There is a connecting corridor to another take-out that serves Western food, so it's clear that the owner is trying to cover all he bases, but not really succeeding at any one thing. It's a pity, because a competitor could easily put him out of business in a fortnight by offering food just a notch in quality above what is offered here. Based on my dining experience, I haven't the...
