We has sushi bay today for lunch. We had an electronic gift card from Christmas. The interior is nicely decorated and cramped with limited seating. Not the fault of sushi bay, just the location. There was a bit of confusion over one item being ordered so we got the wrong thing. At time of paying we mentioned it as we had ordered it again and received a second wrong item. They were willing to remove the item but we were just trying to clarify and pay for the extra item we ordered since there was a mix up. Paying with an electronic gift card was difficult. This was the first one they tried to process. It took a bit to figure it out and wouldn't allow a tip when processing. Which was met with the waitress saying don't worry about it just come back again. I didn't feel good about not tipping so went out to the car and grabbed all the toonies I had available and took them back inside. The FOOD, we ordered a lot of different rolls to try (Assorted tempura, Bbq eel dragon (this was the mix up we just got bbq eel not dragon), Dynamite rolls, Spicy tuna, Spicy salmon , Rainbow roll , Philadelphia roll , Sweet potato roll and finally Autumn roll). I assumed incorrectly the spicy tuna and salmon would have a light drizzle of spicy mayo on top. Overall most of the rolls were average tasting. The standouts were dynamite roll, bbq eel, and rainbow roll. There was only one roll that wasn't very good. It was also the priciest roll at 15.95. That was the autumn roll. It had way too much mayo on top that completely ruined the roll. It was like eating a spoonful of mayo. I ended up dipping some of the rolls without mayo into these to cut back the overpowering taste. I would not recommend that to anyone unless they cut back the mayo. The rainbow rolls on the other hand had a light topping of mayo and the balance of the flavours was perfect. The Tempura batter was really good and the Assorted was a good variety compared to just vegetable. I think I've been ruined from other sushi places for green tea as this was just a tea bag. Slight disappointment and will skip it next time. Overall for being newly opened it was a fairly good experience. I'm sure it'll improve with more time. We will be back to try other items, but we have a good base line of what we like. I wish them great success as it's nice to finally have a sushi place in town. Hopefully this review helps others and inspires others to share their favorite meals for...
Read moreThis was our first visit and I’m sorry to say that it was just ok. We were there right at 4pm and one of 3 tables, so it was not busy (although the takeout was clearly busy).
Atmosphere: blazing lights, I had to remove my glasses as the glare from the potlights was so intense off of my lenses. Music was too loud. Plain decorating. Definitely not “warm and cozy” as the Facebook page advertised.
Service: mildly friendly, we weren’t offered anything to drink other than the 3 glasses of water that were literally plunked in the middle of our table when we arrived. My water was never refilled even though it sat empty (waitress never returned so I couldn’t ask). There was never a “how are things” check. Plates were not cleared as they were emptied-on leaving there were a pile of plates on the table. We sat waiting for our bill even though there was only one other table at the time. There were 2 tables that remained unbussed easily 10-15 minutes after the guests had left even though the waitress passed by several times empty handed.
Food: generally good although not what the menu described. We ordered the spicy tuna rolls and the spicy salmon rolls. Neither were spicy (there was no sauce in or on them) and neither had cucumber as advertised. The tempura vegetables were ok, but the chunks were way too large. Sweet potato was good. Giant zucchini medallions were wet and therefore not crunchy. Broccoli was a weird addition but it was crunchy. Nigiri was great. I heard the waitress saying to another table that the menu was not accurate because you had recently opened-strange.
There’s lots of potential but I think you’ve got a lot of work to do to make this a memorable dining experience (atmosphere and service training most specifically). It was very cafeteria like. And if your menu is not accurate, then I guess it needs to be updated or clarified by the staff on arrival. We were in and out in 45 minutes-so we didn’t wait for anything-but I was more than ready to go after that short time. I guess we could order takeout but we are generally looking for places to go out and have a nice meal and experience. Unfortunately this won’t...
Read moreThis restaurant continues the trend of absolutely terrible cuisine in Bridgewater. Lets talk about it.
Due to the limited menu, I ordered 2x cali rolls, 1x spicy tuna and 1x dynamite roll, here's how it played out.
1: Cali Roll: Only 1 of my California rolls had imitation crab, the other roll was just rice, avocado and mayo.
2: Spicy Tuna Roll: My spicy tuna roll was not spicy, nor did it come with any spicy sauce ( sriracha mayo with lime), and tuna was only a slim topping on top of a rice roll.
3: Dynamite Roll: The only way I could tell there was shrimp in my roll was due to biting on something frozen in-between eating what felt like a mouthful of sand from the tempura batter.
Final Thoughts: I have no words for this disaster, I'm just sad and disappointed.
Mcdonalds still remains the best restaurant in town by a huge margin. and that...
