Like a few others who’ve left reviews my wife and I stumbled on this place today just by our sheer good luck. And are we ever glad we did. What an amazing spot! We eat out a lot and really appreciate good food. We will pay extra for a good meal and a good service experience. And this place exceeded our expectations on both fronts! We sat on their outside deck that they had very nicely decorated. They allowed dogs on the outside deck, which was awesome since we had travelled from Halifax for the day and had two small dogs with us. Not only did they allow them, they actually served them each a few meatballs to start things off, along with a bowl of water. This was a very impressive start for two dog lovers that my wife and I are! But it was just the start. The server was excellent and very well trained. The owner also quickly came out to say hello and chatted with us at length. He eventually recommended their dinner special even though it was only 2:30 ish in the afternoon. They were still willing to serve it which was awesome. So my wife decided to follow his recommendation and WOW WOW WOW! This was made with homemade pasta and a zesty beurre blanc type lemon sauce that was to die for! The dish was topped off with haddock, which paired perfectly. I couldn’t help but steal a few bites and well I’m glad I did. We both agreed it was one of the best pasta dishes we had ever had. The owner also recommended a great wine pairing for this dish that was perfecto. Nice touch Joe! For my main course I went a very different route and had a grilled cheese “meatball” sandwhich. I believe this is one of their lunch specialities. This was very unique to say the least and came with a Caesar salad and few pickles on the side. But most importantly it came with a really yummy marinara sauce for dipping! Once again this was excellent and all VERY tasty. We then ended with a desert that was a pear bread pudding type desert that also was absolutely delicious. So, if you’re in Bridgewater and your tummy is growling this is the spot to go. We will be back again in the future La Casetta! Cheers...
Read moreWife kids and I were in town. I’ll be honest, when I heard that Bridgewater had an Arby’s I got really excited. Then I was told someone drove a car into it the night before. Wasn’t in the mood for drive thru. Needed a sit down meal because as a family we can’t yell at each other in public. Literally googled “best restaurant in Bridgewater”. This came up. We love pasta. And sweet baby Jesus let me tell you what, it was everything as advertised. When the owner of any business serves you, but doesn’t mention that they are the owner, you know they are legit and genuinely care. Food was outstanding. Everything made in house. And I’m not talking pasta that came from a dusty box boiled in house, it’s made in house. Had a sandwich made from house meatballs put into a patty with spinach dip drizzled over it. I haven’t that much mouth excitement since I don’t think I can finish this sentence on google. Plates were garnished with pretty little flowers that my daughter noticed were freshly picked from the flower boxes on the patio. She then made some strange Taylor Swift reference but the point is, no detail overlooked. Tortellini, next level. Bruschetta is the best I’ve had this side of Montreal. Price? Who cares. Worth every penny. Show me better food in Bridgewater and I’ll eat those flowers. Well done La Casetta, you’ve made me do my first Google review ever, because...
Read moreWe have been there twice. The first time was shortly after it opened. The food was bland, the owner did not know what he was doing and we were very disappointed.
Two years later we tried again. Nothing had changed. The sauces were watery, pasta overcooked both starter and main had no seasoning and the shaved parmesan got lost in the dish. We told our server about this and promptly the owner came and challenged us on our comments. The main tortelini were prepared from store bought frozen tortelini which we sent back. Again watery tomato sauce consisted of blended crushed tomatoes no seasoning, no sofrito or mirepoix just crushed tomatoes heated without seasoning. It tasted like out of a can. We discovered that nothing was fresh and pasta was all frozen. The restaurant billed itself as "fresh Italian ".
When we sent our dish back the owner came back he told they could not make food fresh because "we don't have the time for that" and preceeded to tell us the the plate we sent back had been tasted by the entire kitchen and serving staff and they all said it was good.
We are done. We have eaten all over the globe and this gets close to the worst we...
