Sept 30, 2023 - Rosie's Restaurant My wife and I brought my parents here for a slightly early supper. My mother had the three cheese lasagna. I didn't taste it, but it looked very good. My mother is a small woman, but she ate it all. She had to take her salad home though. My father had the 10 oz rib eye steak with baked potato. We ordered the steak medium, which he's always had in the past (here and elsewhere). It looked perfectly done. He did change his mind and wanted it medium well, and after taking it away, it soon came back medium well. Unfortunately a good baked potato seems to be impossible to find anywhere I have tried in the valley. He ate about half of that, but otherwise cleaned his plate. My wife had the two piece fish and chips, with a side of gravy. It was as good as ever! I had the hot chicken sandwich with fries. It was really good, though a little light on gravy. I snapped a picture after I added ketchup and ate a fry or two. Service was a little slow, but they had a large birthday party, and it sounded like they were preparing for another large seating.
Overall it was a good meal!
June 2/2023 - Paddy's Irish Brewpub I stopped with my father for a drink and a rest after going for a stroll. We sat at the bar and chatted and had a drink together. I really really wish I had grabbed the receipt so I had the lady's name at the bar. She was beyond great. For the owner/manager, it...
Read moreWhat a disappointing experience. We came here yesterday for a quick lunch after the Apple Blossom Festival and were thoroughly disappointed with the service and the food. We had eaten at the Wolfville location in the past and had loved it, we thought this would be similar in quality, but we were sadly mistaken. Not only was our server rather rude, but the food was awful. My uncle ordered a chicken fettuccine pasta that was so bland, he could hardly eat a few bites. We tried it and was surprised at how awful it was. My mother ordered a fish with side of chicken and rice soup. Fish was fine but the soup was terribly salty. I ordered chicken fingers and fries, and was surprised at the nugget sized portion of the chicken. When our server asked if we needed a box for the pasta and we told her no, because it didn't taste good, she looked irritable, and just took the bowl with the other plates and left.
The bathrooms were filthy. They didn't have actual garbage cans but rather just 2 clear bags tied up on hooks on the wall. There was used paper towel and garbage all over the floor.
(The plate in the photo with the chicken fingers is about an 8 inch saucer, not a full sized dinner plate. So you can imagine my surprise that a kid's meal sized meal was $15.)
Would not recommend. It was not worth the $80+ dollars for lunch...
Read moreI love eating out and going to different restaurants. Unfortunately based on my latest experience at Rosie's there was no enjoyment or anything positive I can say about my experience. I have been to the restaurant twice. The first time I ordered the breakfast and it was tolerable. On this my second visit I considered several option sand discussed them with the waitress but she didn't offer an enthusiastic recommendation of either dish so I then changed to an order for a chicken stir fry. thinking this was safe option. In my experience at other restaurants I have found a a stir fry usually has a generous offering of vegetables with an appropriate portion of meat over a bed of white or brown rice with a delicious sauce. Sadly in this case the rice they serve is a dry yellow mass topped with a small spoonful of vegetables and a couple of bites of chicken. I should have sent it back or left it untouched because the rice proved to dry and whatever process thy had used to season it yellow along wit the dryness was too much for my system and shortly after lunch I was violently ill and...
