We will not return to this Wendy's location due to the lack of cleanliness and care from the staff.
First thing we noticed was numerous flies buzzing around the counter and kitchen. Packets of ketchup were stuffed in the kids coin donation bin at the counter. The ketchup pumps weren't working. A very large portion of the floor near the drink machine was wet and dirty.
After taking our order, the cashier didn't offer a receipt, he just simply let the machine print onto a pile of previous receipts. The staff didn't appear to be in any sort of uniform. The kitchen staff were roughhousing with each other and wearing air-pods. If they weren't behind the counter, you wouldn't know that they worked there. The cashier did not ask whether we were dining in or out and we were not offered a tray for our meal. It seemed very unwelcoming and we got the impression that the staff didn't want customers to eat their meals inside the restaurant, but would rather have them take their food and leave.
We ventured out to the patio to eat our meal but the door to the patio was locked. We had to go outside to enter from the parking lot. There was garbage on the patio and the bin was overflowing. The patio umbrellas were absent from the outdoor tables so there was no shade.
We weren't there at a busy time and we noticed no attempt from the staff to improve the cleanliness of the place during our visit. The food wasn't very hot, but otherwise fine. The entire experience didn't inspire confidence that the food was being prepared properly though. It felt like a gamble...
Read moreFirst time going to the Wendy’s in sylvan lake. The drive through attendant wasn’t very friendly, I feel like a lot of people would consider him rude but he honestly just sounded like he hated his job and was trying his best to be friendly lol. There were a few minor mix ups, nothing too bad but we’re told we had to wait for fries for the adult meal, no problem! The guy who brought out our fries was walking SO slow. Like the smallest steps he could possibly make and going as slow as possible. It looked very intentional? He didn’t say anything, just handed me my food and walked off. I’ve never seen someone act like that, it’s just kind of rude, especially when we have a car full of screaming kids lol. The kids fries were all cold when we got them at the window and the only thing that seemed fresh were the adult fries but it’s a drive through so 🤷🏼♀️
Overall, food was probably a 2.5/5 to 3/5 for a drive through, but customer service was pretty terrible. I don’t expect workers to love working in fast food but if you hate it that much, you should find another job. I also forgot to mention that they were very, very slow.
Edit: I decided to give it another try a year later and it was disgusting. All the food was cold, took forever, and the guy at the drive thru was rude. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt last time but this is ridiculous. We’re clearly not the only ones either, I don’t understand how this location...
Read moreWent here for the first time and did not have a good experience.
It was 9:15 PM, and I had been on the road, so needed to stretch my legs a bit, use the bathroom, and have a bite. The sign on the door said they were open until 10 PM, but when I tried to open the door it was locked! Other people were trying to get in, too.
I went through the drive thru. The person on the speaker was short and rude with me.
Then I pull up to the window and notice the order taker also appears to be the shift manager. I politely ask why they are locked if they are open until 10, but she just gives me a dirty look and ignores me. No apology for inconvenience or anything.
I could see they were clearly short staffed, but that doesn't excuse the behavior. Even if they had just stuck a note on the window explaining why the dining room was closed would have been fine. And to have a manager being rude towards customers is even worse. I used to work for Wendy's and NONE of this would have been acceptable.
Next time I'm in Sylvan Lake I will go to McDonalds or Subway, where the staff...
