Father’s Day and we pre-booked for a party of 15. The one table wasn’t big enough for everyone, so four of us were sat at a smaller table right beside. Not a big deal, still close enough to talk to each other - the first issue was that our table of four ordered everything first. 2 Appies and mains (one for a child) and drinks, then the larger table ordered after. Our drinks came (two got cokes, child got chocolate milk) and we had to send the cokes back because they were SO watered down. Even when they came back with new ones they were the same watery quality. The chocolate milk was literally just milk with a hint of Nesquik mix. Not majorly impressed right off the bat.
After about 45 minutes, everyone at the bigger table gets their food first even though our table of four ordered first. We are told that something happened and our orders got lost, it’ll be another 10 minutes. 20 minutes pass (it has now been just over an hour we have been here), and our food finally arrives while everyone else is polishing off their plates. Someone at our table ordered the nachos and they were terribly undercooked - like soft and wet! That person didn’t end up eating AT ALL. Another at our table had the fish and chips and couldn’t stomach the fries as they were so greasy, and you could literally wring out the fish of its grease. That person’s stomach hurt a lot after eating what they could. Mine and the child’s were decent but nothing special. 10 minutes after our table of four got our mains, our deep fried pickle appy came out. At this point, we were all so frustrated we didn’t even touch them and got them taken off the bill. An hour and a half and we’re all still hungry.
After looking at the reviews, there may be an issue with this place and larger parties of people? I don’t know, but the entire experience was extremely disappointing and underwhelming. No additional discounts offered, even though everyone was very clearly upset and unhappy about the experience. We still ended up paying ~$80. We have been here before several times and have never had a worse experience. To be honest, would not recommend and we will not be going here again. So disappointing.
Also, the place we were sat was NOT wheelchair accessible and we had someone in...
Read moreI love this place. The food has always been delicious and I've never had issues with the staff. That was until this Saturday for MY birthday. I'm giving this a 1 star because the staff and the manager (besides apologizing but not making it seem sincere) did not show they cared.
I called and made a reservation a week before the event. I spoke with a gentleman that took my name, number, how many in my party and told me I was all good and reserved. I then called the day before to ensure I changed from 15 people to 20, I was told then it was updated and good to go.
Imagine showing up, at 7 with 20 of your guests with you to find out THERE IS NO RESERVATION and they have no room. The 2 waitress' we were speaking with dismissed me saying they didn't have a reservation and just walked away. No one wanted to make eye contact or try to help so I asked for a manager nicely with another person. The manager came over and the only thing I could get was "I don't know how to explain it or what happened but you don't have a reservation". At this point I was very upset as I have 20 people waiting and the best she could offer was waiting for the guests that just got their food in the separate room to leave and then they can seat us. So you want to push people out because you screwed up? (At this point I felt like they just wanted me to go away because the place was full and they didn't care that they screwed up)Then I'm told by this manager that they have new people who started and maybe they didn't know the protocol for reservations. Again, this is not my issue. She then suggests we seat everyone in different area's of the restaurant, once people leave one area they will slowly bring us together. So while we are eating we would have to pick everything up and switch tables who knows how many times. I accepted this because I'm worried about the guests I have outside.
In the end we had to reach out to another restaurant who had enough room to seat us and even gave us a private room that normally costs money to rent. That is going above and beyond for a customer and Fox & Hound did NOTHING to make this right. I will not be returning to this restaurant as this would never be OK for anyone let anyone who works in a customer...
Read moreThe last time I ate at Fox & Founds was six years ago with friends, where I had the Banger & Mash for dinner.
Coming back there recently with my mother and her friend, who really enjoyed patronizing there, along with myself. I ordered the Calamari Dinner with the Fox Ale, my mother the Beef Dip with Green Salad and her friend the Doorkeeper Burger with Fries. The calamari, in my opinion was pretty great, the pita bread was solid good while the Greek salad was fantastic. My beer was very satisfying since I do not often have the chance to enjoy tap beer. IT was crisp, refreshing and balanced overall.
The aesthetic of the pub was very attractive to eye. Despite the fact that most of the interior structure was not made of real wood or cement, the designs looked very antiquated yet sophisticated. Things like the old telephone booths or animal head trophies just looks so neat to look at. The service was very satisfactory and were attentive to our needs.
Overall, Fox & Hounds is a great restaurant to enjoy with friends for any...
